What a neat place to stand, knowing the history of the location. 🇺🇸 However, as of October 2025, the maintenance of this historical monument is not being cared for very well. Hopes are there are restoration plans. The plaques are missing, the shiny Olympic rings are gone, the patio stone Olympic rings are filling in with grass, the stumps of the overgrown landscape trees remain. Without the directions and pictures from Google, the importance of this location is unknown.

It was awesome to see the cauldron. We were able to walk right up to it. Sadly, it looks like it hasn’t been taken care of for a while. I’m hoping maybe it is in the middle of being renovated because it was sad to see a piece of Olympic history in the shape it is in.

It was an okay visit. I thought you could get closer to the cauldron, but the viewing platform is quite a distance away.

This was so bizarre- it was like an old roadside attraction “Worlds Biggest Ball of Twine - Now With Olympic Cauldron!” There were two high school soccer games going on that blocked access to the cauldron when we stopped to visit. Lake Placid is beautiful and surely a better place can be found for this...
