Worst camping experience of our life. Paid for a week stay and we were evicted at 3:30am on day two by the staff for using an outdoor outlet to charge the kids phones with zero warning and absolutely nothing in the provided rules or the orally provided rules at check in forbidding it. Disgusting way to treat a family on vacation. Will never stay here again and have requested a refund through the state for our stolen days. Zero communication and zero posted signs denoting that how is an evictable offense. I have been camping my entire life and have NEVER had such a horrendous experience. DO NOT CAMP HERE. There’s thousands of campgrounds in upstate NY that won’t kick you out at 3:30am for plugging an extension cord into an accessible unmarked outdoor outlet. God will judge you all for ruining our family vacation. If this is an immediate grounds to evict a family from their site then this should be PUBLICLY POSTED, explained with the rules at check in (especially when you tell the staff it’s your first time camping here at check in) and it should be in the provided pamphlet in the rules section (which it is NOT). TERRIBLE PLACE. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE AND TERRIBLE STAFF. Don’t waste your family’s hard earned money on a campground that won’t hesitate to steal your money and violate your site privacy by entering your site or tent after midnight and look at you sleeping naked while trying to EVICT YOU. Absolutely unprofessional, illegal and invasive. Staff admitted they attempted to wake my sleeping husband who was fully naked in his tent while I was off site. DISGUSTING! This place should be shut down. We intentionally rented a site by the bathhouse because I had my monthly visitor and the main bathhouse near our site was CLOSED our entire stay which was not told to us at time of reservation or check in and the closest toilets were almost too far to walk to we had to drive the car there and it was a shack with dim light, dirty filthy facilities and NO feminine disposal in the stalls and no showers. 🤮 This is unacceptable and a violation of health laws and an absolute bait and switch situation where we were led to believe we would be provided basic hygiene facilities and in fact we were NOT. Shame on this campground. Mismanaged in all aspects. ZERO STARS. Will never...

We didn't have a campsite, just stopped there to swim. It's a pretty nice beach, clean and well taken care of. I would definitely recommend if your in the area.

PS- I'm posting this in June of 2020, so if you are going to north Hampton beach today I just wanted to give the heads up that the beach is "technically closed" right now because the 2020 Pandemic/ Coronavirus and NYS not allowing beaches to open yet (until phase 3 I believe). North Hampton is allowing people to swim and use the beach (or just looking the other way), but they are not allowing people to park in there lot until they open back up. The pro to this is you won't have to pay to swim or use the beach or for parking (most likely you will find free parking). The con is you have to find parking on the street ( our parking spot was free) and it will be a short to long walk from where you can park on the street to the beach, but it's well worth it to be able to swim on these hot summer days. If you really don't want to or can't walk too far I did see some near by businesses allowing people to park in there lots for a $10 fee, but it wasn't that much closer to be worth the fee for us. Once they completely open back up (in phase 3), you'll be able to park in there lot and you won't need to walk very far at all. Over all its a great place to...

After years of considering this a 5 star DEC, I had to remove one star...it's literally impossible to get a site on the water. They say you can book 9 months ahead of time. I checked for sites that should have JUST opened up right after midnight, and there are none. I'm not sure if they get pre booked or if you have to know someone to get them...but since this is a state campground, it seems a bit unfair that all sites are not fair game to the tax paying public.

The last time I went, we had a spot away from the water and planned on spending the day at the sandbar. Unfortunately everyone with a boat thinks they own the sandbar because they have a pontoon; after 2 hours of fending off our tiny sliver of beachfront (that our toddler was trying to play in) from rude, entitled, confrontational boaters, we gave up and left.

This is a beautiful campground and I adored it for the lake access, but it's getting increasingly difficult to access the lake. If you want water access, you're better off going up...

We love coming here every summer! The sites are all pretty decently sized compared to other campgrounds we have been to. Some sites are definitely hidden gems. Whereas most are listed as waterfront or landlocked, campground regulars know the sites that include their own private beaches (unofficially of course). This campground used to be known as the big party spot but over the last six years coming regularly it really hasn’t been any thing like that. Yes it gets loud when it’s busy. But nothing out of hand like we have been told in the past. Dispersed throughout the campground are individual bathroom buildings (at least one in every camping section, always in walking distance), and there are three shower complexes. Two new with attached bathrooms and one older communal type. Some key notes, bring lots of bug-spray. Keep an eye out for cancellations because sites book up fast but there are always cancellations. And bring bug spray.

I cannot speak of the campgrounds as I only went for the beach. The lake itself is beautiful however the beach was very underwhelming. The sand was not very sandy at all, feeling more like tiny rocks than smooth, albeit hot, sand. I would definitely recommend water shoes or Crocs. No reason to not go, but be forwarned. My biggest complaint was with this bird which kept giving me major attitude. I could understand if I had food or something but I was empty handed. Maybe that's why it was so upset? šŸ¤”šŸ˜‚

Have always enjoyed our time camping here. Sites are roomy and most are not right on top of others. We like the extra space. Love the first loop in the spring, as the water is high and there is great access for kayaking and boating. In the fall the lake is too low to access the water there, and that fools a lot of people who look at maps and don't know the many lake levels of the Sacandaga. Facility is always well kept and have never had any issues.
