I recently held my wedding here. The venue is absolutely stunning and we were lucky to have great weather. We would have written a raving review of the venue but the on-site coordinator, Angie, soured our whole experience. From the get-go, she was very disorganized and would often go for long periods of times before responding to our emails or requests. And when we would finally get ahold of her and she would have all these excuses as to why she went silent and make all these promises. It was very confusing to deal with because for a while everything would seem to be on track but as soon as the conversation was over, she would go silent again and eventually claw back her promises. We tried to work with it as much as we could but it all came to a head on the day of our wedding. I had at least 10 guests tell me after the wedding that they had or overheard someone else have really negative interactions with her. And I can only imagine the number of guests who were too polite to say anything. Just so rude and unprofessional. And the thing is - our wedding wasn't event that complicated or extravagant. We even had a staff member tell us that we were one of the more easier guests that they've had! I can only imagine how she would have acted if the wedding was actually a lot or if we put a lot of pressure on her. Thankfully, we did not see too much of this ourselves that day and our guests were kind enough to not say anything until after the wedding day was over. I tried calling the venue after the wedding to speak with a manager or someone in hopes to save future weddings hosted there but no one was available so the receptionist took my info and told me someone would call me back. After no one called, I tried calling a couple more times but they didn't pick up. Really disappointing result. In conclusion, if you were thinking about having a wedding here, I'd say the venue is beautiful but not worth all the stress of the bad service. Especially annoying because the venue is so expensive. You'd think they'd have more professional service. And if you are already planning on having a wedding here, beware of Angie and hire a good planner and day-of coordinator to keep her...

My wife and I went to the Boscobel House for one of their holiday themed candlelight tours. The grand house was decorated to the theme of a holiday party, with time appropriate holiday decor and food. Additionally, these tours ran later in the evening than when the site was traditionally open, giving people the chance to see the mansion literally in a new light.

Every room of the historic mansion was staffed with knowledgeable guides sharing history related to the holidays. On our walk from the visitor center to the house, we were given a wealth of information on the history of the grounds themselves. The house had been used for cider making, farming, brick making, among others through it's time and links to the past are on display.

We were given ample time to enjoy the absolutely gorgeous sunset view of the Hudson River. It was rich with the colors the Valley is known for.

Inside the house, every room was candlelit and an antique piano was being played to set the festive tone. It felt like a celebration!

The most impressive part of the tour was the gallery in the house basement. It was amazing to see how the house had been transformed from near ruin into the historical center it is totally.

Tickets were a little pricey for the event ($40), but if you enjoy supporting history, rest assured that this museum is putting its funding to good use. This is a wonderful place for visitors of all ages with a caring highly educated staff.

There was even hot cider and other refreshments, as well as period appropriate pomander-making arts and crafts afterwards. Every staff member made us feel welcomed and they truly treated us as their...

The Boscobel House & Gardens is an absolute amazing attraction and a must visit destination of Putnam County, New York. The estate includes a gorgeous historic house museum, beautiful gardens and orchards and striking views of the Hudson River.

In September of 2023, I brought and treated myself and my wife for a guided tour of the Boscobel House & Gardens and we both thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

Our tour guide did a great job on discussing the history of the house and its occupants as well as explaining the house’s architectural features and many antique furnishings.

During the tour, my wife and I learned that the Boscobel House is considered a Federal style home and that it was built by States Dyckman, an American loyalist during the American revolution. The home was fully completed in 1808 and its was first located in Montrose, New York. While States Dyckman didn’t live long enough to see the completion of Boscobel his wife and descendants would reside there until the 20th Century.

To save it from demolition, Boscobel was relocated to its present location Garrison, New York and today, serves as an historic house museum.

In addition to enjoying the tour, both my wife and I loved viewing the beautiful gardens, and were definitely captivated by the breathtaking views of the Hudson River. It was definitely a sight to behold and we definitely made sure to picture of this majestic scenery.

If you enjoy touring historic homes, visiting gardens and viewing magnificent landscapes, then you should make plans to stop by and explore Boscobel...
