A short, one-hour drive from Manhattan, Bear Mountain offers trails and vistas for the entire family! There are easy trails such as the Hessian Lake Loop that takes less than half-hour or more challenging ones such as Popolopen Torne via Timp Torne Trail. For the most relaxing day, drive to the Bear Mountain Inn and park there. It has a restaurant where you can grab a bite to eat or relax with coffee and drinks. Spend the rest of the day hiking the trails. Kids will love the Merry-Go-Round Pavilion (only on weekends) and trail side museums and zoo. Summer offers boat rentals too. Head to Perkins Memorial Tower - Located at the top of Bear Mountain, this tower has viewing benches, telescopes, and a spectacular 360-degree view of the Hudson River, Harriman State Park, and the Palisades. There are other activities in the area such as Storm King Art Center, Village of Cold Spring, Boscobel, Manitoga, Constitution Island, the Warner House and much more! It is possible to take a cruise here during the operating season.
