Griffin Park as a whole has the potential to be a five-star park. The space is well-designed and offers a lot for the community. However, there are several major issues that prevent it from reaching that level.
First and foremost, the bathrooms are absolutely disgusting. It is clear they are rarely, if ever, cleaned or maintained. For a park of this size and popularity, this is unacceptable.
Second, the park has never had working water fountains. In my opinion, functioning water fountains should be considered the bare minimum for any public park, especially one aiming for a five-star rating.
Lastly, the basketball courts are in extremely poor condition and are not safe for regular use. • All courts are slightly slanted to the left (if you are facing the tennis courts), which poses a real risk of injury to players. • The surfaces are filled with cracks and weeds, and the paint has significantly faded due to years of neglect. • The mini hoop rims are bent and unusable. • Court #1, to the right of the mini hoops, has a broken backboard with a hole in the center that has remained unrepaired for over a year.
Griffin Park has a lot of potential, but the lack of basic maintenance—especially concerning cleanliness, drinking water, and safety—shows that key areas are simply not a priority for the...
Read moreI love taking my daughter to the park. The only issue I have is the inclusive park which meant for children with disabilities and young children. Parents have kids riding their bike through it. It's not meant for their kids riding their bikes but to make children in wheelchair can move freely. It's also the only inclusive playground that is close to us. When my child can't play in there because it's over crowded it's not fair to my daughter or the parents I've seen who children are also autistic or in wheelchair are having to leave because it's become over crowded and not safe for their it breaks my heart.
I brought my autistic daughter and she was almost run over bikes. I'm all for kids riding their bikes just not in the inclusive area.
It's beautiful place to walk...
Read moreThis is a nice park with plenty of parking. There are multiple soccer fields and baseball fields that surround 2 very nice playgrounds and a bathroom house which is attached to a pavilion with benches and a food shack. If we were eating just those it would certainly be 5 stars. If there were any or many teams playing here it seems as though it would be crowded chaos with very little parking left. Thankfully there were no teams playing on our morning visit. Lots of people walking dogs around. Some on a leash and some not. I saw no one carrying any poop bags?? No dog park here either. I saw no attendant so enforcement of any rules must just be up to the...
