Beautiful orchard. You have to make reservations online. Just go onto the website - they ask for name and number of people in your party and then you choose your time slot. We actually did it as we got there (the original orchard we picked was Dr. Davis and that was packed!) But I don't recommend doing that. The later slots were all filled. When you enter the apple picking section they ask if you have a reservation. We first went to the store/supermarket but the actual orchard is a little ways down the road - we took the car and parked there. You only pay when you get there - you have the option of either small bags ($12/each) or a big bag ($45). I'm not sure if you can take 1 big bag for your whole party or if you would have to get 2, i guess it depends on the number of people, they would tell you. We walked quite a way to get any apples - a lot of the trees had already been picked bare but as we got deeper into the orchard there were more trees with apples. There were quite a few varieties of apples but the names are only on one end of the row, so if you walk the length of it and then walk the other side you don't quite know what you've got. I'm sure if it really mattered to you, you could ask someone from the farm. They also have plots of corn but of course those were done for the season. We stayed for a bit more than an hour - no one tells you when to leave . Masks are required at all times but regardless, it was lovely to be outside. They have porter potties by the parking lot if you need to go and also...
Read moreA decent spot for local apple picking but there are so many better places worth a one hour drive from nyc. -No hay ride, a rocky inclined trek to get to the other variety of apples so keep that in mind if you have older family members -Had about 5 varieties of accessible apples -Apples were plenty for picking and at all reachable heights depending on your age -Great background of vast mountains covered with beautiful trees -Not crowded or over run -A very simple design with one storefront. -Had cider stocked and a variety of big and small individual pies. (Pecan was a 2.5 out of 5; so maybe pick another kind) -Apple cider donuts were sold out by 2pm.
Me and my family went on a Sunday and there were a few families but not crowded. It is policy to pay for a bag (they provide) upfront for groups of 4. So for small families and local apple picking it's decent as the bag can fit about 15 + lbs of apples for a fixed price. But if you are going with a very large group whom want the apple picking experience, it can get expensive fast and you end up having a HUGE surplus of apples. I suggest you go elsewhere if you truly want picturesque fall vibes and if you have a larger family. I usually go to a place called Terhune Orchardsin NJ (same hour or so drive from nyc) which can handle large groups, has hay rides; restocks all sorts of goodies (cider/donuts/honey/pies/pumpkins/fall things etc); has large red barns and...
Read moreMy review is for the Apple picking experience only. If you have children and feel you will need a stroller do NOT come here. They do not allow. Other orchards do. They said it is due to an incident from a prior season ans for insurance They no longer accept strollers. Frankly walking in the orchard holding my baby or having her in a carrier felt more dangerous since if I fell on the uneven ground or on apple it would have been even more devastating. They were not very public of this restriction and I didn't know until I got there and had to go in holding my baby anyways since my entire group was already there and in. The apple picking price is only slightly higher than nearby Davies Farm. Davies does allow strollers and even has the option for a wagon rental whereas Concklin does not. Also I find that their business model is flawed as they have you park far from their farm stand so we didn't even sink any money into impulse purchases or stuffing our faces with apple cider doughnuts.
In shirt go to Davies for a full and family and kid friendly apple...
