This rating is about one particular priest( not sure if really priest, or volunteer we see him every time whenever we go) in the temple. I don’t know his name, but he is the elderly priest there. Since he appeared wise, we approached him to seek blessings for my 5 year-old child. Unfortunately, instead of simply declining if he didn’t wish to bless us, he was extremely rude.
He called over another family who was with us and openly spoke negatively about our character—despite not knowing us at all. He accused us of being greedy and selfish simply for asking for blessings. He even made objectionable remarks toward my wife after we mentioned that we also worship other gods along with Lord Shiva. For nearly 20 minutes, he kept questioning and criticizing us, assuming that we were praying only for money. We chose to remain silent to avoid unnecessary conflict and to protect our peace of mind.
For the past two years, we have traveled from another state to visit this temple because it gave us peace. Sadly, this one individual completely ruined that experience. His harsh comments were deeply offensive, not only to my family but also to other family
I also noticed similar complaints from other visitors about the same priest.
If you are planning to visit, please know that everything else about the temple is good, and the other priests are...

Read moreThis is one of the best temples in USA. Located in a beautiful hill region in bear mountain region, Newyork. It makes me feel like I’m in Mylapore Vedantha Desigar Kovil.
The priests over here are very friendly and they follow the same procedures without any change as how it happens in Mylapore and other deaigar kovil.
The best part is the priests in this temple are more orthodox even during winter, whereas priests in other temples in New Jersey (you may already know which temple I’m referring to) wear socks, T-shirt during winter which makes everyone feel bad for being unorthodox.
Best part of this temple is Prasadham. Wow!! Agmark vaishnava temple food that we use to get in Mylapore, Kumbakonam and Mannargudi. They freshly prepare in the Madappalli next to it. Madapalli - the place where the prasadham is being cooked in very orthodox manner. And it is of no cost, visitors can donate if they wish. I recommend you do!
I love this temple as it makes me feel...
