DO NOT GO TO THIS FARM, VERY BAD EXPERIENCE. You get charged $30 when you go in, and you can to pick 10lbs of peaches. Over 10lbs will be charged $3 per pound. The cashier lady told us in which row we could pick peaches, but when we got there, we didn't find ANY peaches. So we had to look around for peaches, but we did not find many peaches, because they were not open in many places. So in the end we only picked up some fallen peaches on the ground. When we left, we only had 7lbs of peaches, which was not enough for 10 pounds, but we had already paid for 10lbs of peaches, so we asked the cashier for help, the Spanish-speaking cashier lady was very rude and told us that there was nothing she could do. We told her we couldn't find any peaches in the open area, so she called the other workers and got confirmation there weren't any peaches in the open area she told us, so they opened another area. She even got into an argument with us in front of the other guests, it was the worst experience we've ever had and we're never...
Read moreWe took the kids to apple and peach pick on Sunday 9/27/15. I should have trusted the prior reviews that we read. Strangely, you are not allowed to bring purses in....which is how most families carry their monies...because I assume they think you may sneak an apple out in it. The trees had very small apples. There were few full developed fruits on the trees. The ground was covered in rotting fruit. My children went crazy and picked $55 worth of apples. We love them fresh and in pies so no big deal....they would theoretically last a bit. When we got home to cut them open 90% of them had strange brown dots or veining throughout the apple. They were disgusting under the skin. I called Davis Farm and they told me it was because of the dry season. We had picked apples at Fort Salonga Farm which has the SAME CLIMATE and all of their apples were fine. I took the apples to a local garden center and was told that it appears to be a fungus or pest inside the fruit. Needless to say we threw out $50...
Read moreI found Hayden's Orchard in a Google search for peach-picking farms back in 2021, and it has became my favorite farm out east. They offer a great variety of peaches and apples. The prices are reasonable compared to other farms in the area, which tend to overcharge for a similar experience. Last time I went with my family (there are six of us), we paid around $10 per person and got 20 pounds of peaches with that fee. Hence the wristbands. Anything over that was $3 per pound, which is a great deal when you consider you're picking them yourself—it’s such a fun activity to do with family, especially in August when peach season is at its peak.
The staff is always friendly and helpful, but I do recommend bringing your own wagon. Trust me, those peaches get heavy after a while! It's a nice workout though, and a great way to get your steps in.
My family loves it, and despite trying other places, we always end up back at Hayden's for both peach and apple picking. Definitely give them a try—you won’t be...
