I haven't been to Hosmer in years, a bad experience while on a group wine tour a few years ago made me hesitant to return. I visited for their haunted wine walk event today and honestly was underwhelmed. The wines they chose for the event were lackluster, although I realize that taste of wine in particular is extremely subjective. The event itself was confusing for guests, with many people not realizing that they could get two tastings at every station. It was nearly impossible to find out any information about the event prior to attending, which for those with anxiety, diet, or social concerns, was irritating. The food offered with each wine was also lacking, and didn't center around a theme or seem to match particularly well with the flavors of the wine on offer. There weren't enough spaces for people to eat at during the actual Walk, although there were more spaces outside. The best part of the entire day was the apple cider mimosa we got after the main event (for an extra charge). That was extremely tasty. The souvenir glass was also really cute. Overall it was just kind of a...
Read moreI love Hosmer Winery! The staff is outstanding. I only wish that they hadn’t changed my favorite wine Raspberry Rhapsody. I have bought this wine for several years but when I traveled to Hosmer this year I had noticed that the wine was a very pale shade of pink as opposed to the darker shade that it used to be. I included it in my wine tasting because I didn’t want to purchase it without tasting it first after I noticed the color change. I was glad that I did because it tasted nothing like the wine I fell in love with 8 years ago. I wish they had not changed it because it was absolutely wonderful the way it used to be. Im sad to say that I don’t buy it anymore . I’m hoping they will restore it to the way it was before. Hosmer is still an outstanding winery and I will continue to travel to visit this...
Read moreCompared to some of our other favorite wineries in the Finger Lakes, these wines are mediocre. We visited for the first time last week on a weekday, not a busy time. I paid for a tasting, but wished to taste a couple extra wines since we only visit that area once or twice per year and looked forward to re-stocking our wine cellar. Our server would not allow me to try an additional wine I wanted to taste and was rather snitty about it. I consider it their loss, as I won't buy a wine I am not able to taste. Most other wineries will allow additional samplings if requested because their goal is to sell their wines. I don't expect to come back given so many other good...
