Most foreigners travelling to the U.S. only talk about National Parks or State Parks, because it seems that's where the tourist industries are focused on. However, in Wisconsin, aside from the Apostle Islands National Park, Devil's Lake State Park and Dells Boat Tours, nothing else compares to the beauty of Cave Point County Park.
Most County Parks are bland and boring, but Cave Point County Park is a hidden gem. In my opinion, it easily surpasses most State Parks in Wisconsin. Sure, State Parks tend to be bigger, but as we know, it's about quality and not only quantity. My trip to Cave Point was by accident when I met a group of strangers in the Sturgeon Bay area. Upon arrival, you lose all cell phone signal, which is a blessing in disguise.
While not very big, it is a great place to enjoy nature. One have to take a hike around the Park more than one time. One must take pictures and videos. Different seasons will bring different beauties from nature and this park is a great place to witness such beauties. If you can swim, it is worth taking a dive down into the waters. I highly recommend this park to everyone, locals and...
Read moreCave Point County Park is something out of a dream, where nature's raw power and beauty are on full display. It's one of those places where you feel a bit more alive, a bit more connected to the world. Whether you've got just thirty minutes or the whole day, this park has something to offer. I strongly recommend bringing a swimsuit if you want to feel a real rush-jumping off those rocks into the clear, cool water is an experience you won't forget. And if you're inclined to explore, venture left along the shoreline to discover whimsical stone towers that lend an almost storybook quality to the place. People were there taking family portraits, and I can see why-every angle is picture-perfect. The view of the bay alone is worth the trip over. Cave Point County Park has a bit of magic in it, making it a spot you'll want to revisit time and time again. If you're up for an extraordinary day, this spot...
Read moreThree great things about this park: the views, the ability to cliff-jump, and the trails. Three bad things about this park: the parking (although 4th of July Weekend makes parking bad anywhere), the bathrooms, and the fact this isn’t a state park. We really enjoyed our time here although it was super crowded and hot out. A little jump into the water cooled us off. There is a point at the opening of the trail that heads north where most people jump. However, our family found a spot further south. I only recommend doing it if the water seems high enough and you’re willing to risk injury. It was lots of fun and injury-free for us, anyway. One thing I would say is that this park is probably best enjoyed by kayaking along the shore. I’m sure the caves and cliffs look fantastic from that viewpoint! However, I didn’t do this, so I can’t direct you to a kayak...
