Blydenburgh Dog Park Area — Attraction in Town of Smithtown

This is a really wonderful dog park, and we loved our visit here. It’s large, open, and has a lot of great features that make it stand out. The park is grass-covered, which is nice, though personally that’s the one part I don’t love — grass can get muddy and messy. But aside from that, everything about this park is excellent.

The best feature is that the dog park actually includes wooded areas. That makes it unique and so much more interesting for the dogs, who get to explore and sniff around in a natural setting rather than just a flat field.

We visited in the summer, and the water bowls and water outlet on site were a lifesaver. It was great to have fresh water available for the dogs right there in the park. There are also chairs and tables for owners to sit and relax while their dogs run around and play, which made the whole experience more comfortable.

I love this place, just not all of the people that go there. Your dog IS your responsibility. I've seen people bring their dog inside the fenced in area and then return to their vehicle to sit there with the heat on. I've seen people so involved in what's on their cellphone that they forget about their pup. I've seen ignorant owners and ill behaved dogs running amok.

Mind your dog, they ARE your responsibility. Clean up after your dog, it IS your responsibility.

The area for big dogs (25lbs and over) is great for them to run around. Huge fenced in yard with a little trail/wooded area.. Lots of water bowls and a cold water fountain.. poop bags near the entrance.. grassy area beyond the mulch area and lots of benches in shade. Only complaint is the wasps or hornets in the grass area (not sure if that can be managed though) and the fence seems a little low, for big dogs that jump high, just be cautious!
