Seemed like the perfect spot - right off the Empire trail, big playground, a nice beach with picnic tables in the shade...
my only knock on the layout is that the beach and playground are opposite each other from each other from the parking lot and up a big hill to get to the playground.
I was pleasantly surprised to see lots of other kids playing at 10am on a Thursday! And just as my 2 year old got sight of the big playground, we were informed that this public park is closed until 12. She said she was "sorry, but I'm responsible for these kids safety". At least it seems she wouldn't take cash for compromise, so kudos to sticking to her morals.
She directed us to Weller Park instead. No one around, but at least it's open and...
Read moreOne of the only wooden playgrounds from my childhood that’s still standing! It’s not in the best shape, but one of my favorites and wonderful for pretending you are at Hogwarts. I’m so happy I get to bring my kid(s) to experience it. There is also a newer plastic/metal play area next to the castle but the slides are weirdly high off the ground so not great for little ones.
Update: No longer standing, they took down the wooden castle. 😞 I believe they replaced it with a modern playground but I haven't...
