Not very scenic in April. But areas were pretty. I imagine fall is the best time. From Hopewell Junction be ready for an exhausting incline. I only cycled 19 miles out 16 miles were an incline & especially windy on the lake. There are no bathrooms or stores along the way keep in mind but the path itself is smooth like butter, nice to roll on. Also connects to the Dutchess Trail, Walkway Over the Hudson & Hudson valley river trail. Nice century ride if you plan right.

I love taking the dog here for long walks. Trail parking may not always be available at the entrance, but yesterday, I saw people parked on the side of the trail entrance on the dirt. There's also plenty of parking in the parks, so I just parked next to the basketball courts.

Great place to bike goes a long way hidden gem connected to dutchess rail trail. Goes all the way to Patterson Brewster and beyond. Very quiet . If you are lucky you can see bears

The trail is well-paved, and essentially joins the Putnam Trailway with the Dutchess Trailway, enabling a paved bike ride from the city to New Paltz, so 5* for that. BUT…it is beginning to be overgrown with weeds in some parts, and unless maintained properly, may become somewhat impassable. So, loses a star, at least temporarily, until we see what the NY...
