It is, indisputably, a point. Orient Point: the punctuation mark at the end of Long Island’s North Fork. If the land were a sentence, this would be the full stop. The road ends, the land narrows, you have to climb down some rocks, you have to walk on a pebbly beach, and suddenly—you’re at the point. And if you're into points, well... this is one. Is it spitty? Absolutely. The kind of landform that looks like the earth tried to sneak out a little extra. A final squiggle. And yes, it lives up to the name: windswept, bird-haunted, briny. Should you compare this to other points? You could. Point Pelee is grander, more migratory-bird-famous. Cape Cod is more cape-y. But Orient Point has a quiet, end-of-the-road dignity. It knows what it is. It’s not trying to impress you. It’s just pointing. Now, is a review necessary? Probably not. There is no host. No menu. No option to substitute the point with a better point. You're not here to upgrade it—you’re here to witness it. So what information can I provide, to help fellow point appreciators? It is, in fact, quite pointy. It is spitty, yes. Spit-forward. If you stay on land, it’s not particularly wet. But if you go poking around, don’t blame the point. There are ferries nearby. They do their job (see separate reviews). You’ll know when you’ve arrived. There is no more land. In conclusion: five stars. A fine point. Possibly one of our better ones.

The Point at Orient Point is truly a hidden gem on the North Fork of Long Island. From the moment you arrive, you’re greeted by stunning views of the Long Island Sound, peaceful surroundings, and a refreshing coastal breeze that instantly puts you at ease. The location is perfect for a quiet getaway—whether you’re looking to relax by the water, take in a sunset, or explore the local wineries and shops nearby. It’s peaceful, picturesque, and feels like a true escape from everyday life. The accommodations are clean, charming, and well-maintained, with a rustic vibe that fits perfectly with the natural beauty of the area. The outdoor space is especially lovely—ideal for morning coffee or evening drinks with a view. Whether you’re staying for a weekend or just stopping by to enjoy the view, The Point at Orient Point is well worth the trip. It’s a perfect spot for couples, families, or anyone looking to reconnect with nature and unwind by the water.

Down a narrow gravel road, you can find this very pointy end of Long Island. Unlike the high bluffs and round end at Montauk, Orient draws to a fine point, with the lighthouse sitting yards out into the confused seas at the end of a line of rock riprap. The Long Island Sound and Gardiners Bay waters turn this passageway into a bumpy stretch of water that can look stormy on the best of days! Great place for a beach cookout, watch the ferries go by or throw a line in the water.

Great in...
