Was VERY disappointed. It was a beautiful setting and we were so excited to go there as it is my friends favorite winery and she was celebrating a special birthday. Her husband called weeks ago and pre-paid for the 12 of us. As one expects in the fall, there was a ton of traffic heading out East so we called and asked if we could change our reservation to an hour later, which they agreed. Upon arrival many of us needed to use the restroom (porta potties) and we were told we could not do so until we were seated. They took their time seating us (even though our table was ready and waiting for us) and repeatedly reminded us that we were an hour late. They told us no one is ever late and there is no traffic. The manager told her staff to “let them wait”... we heard her say this... Finally we were seated at a lovely table and waited a half hour for the waiter to arrive with our first tasting. We then waited A FULL HOUR for him to to return with the second tasting. It was painful. No food was offered - no other drinks were offered.. we just sat there being totally ignored. Anytime we inquired, the brusquely reminded us we were an hour late. It was the worst service I ever experienced. The waiter clearly took his lead from the manager and was incredibly rude. He spilled a while glass of wine into my friends purse and could barely sputter out his apologies. My friend then said “I guess I won’t get married here” - to which he replied “we don’t do weddings anyway”. We went to another winery next and had a wonderful experience. With all of the beautiful wineries that offer incredible service, don’t waste an...
Read moreThis winery had beautiful scenery and our server was fantastic (thank you, Dan!). However, my girlfriends and I went for my birthday and came by party bus. The owner was extremely rude to our driver in addition to my whole party. We tried to call multiple times due to being late because of traffic and nobody answered when we called. Upon arrival we were told our bungalow/cabana reservation was no longer available to us because we were late. When we requested to speak with the owner later on we were told she was “busy” inside. Okay!
I have worked in the food and beverage service industry for years. Being rude to your customers, especially those who are willing to spend a substantial amount of money, is highly frowned upon. The environment is one thing, but your staff providing quality service and kindness is a significant part of your overall experience. We had a bad taste in our mouths from the moment we entered the establishment. Beautiful place! Extremely stuck up people. We will not be returning. Don’t waste your time if you’re trying to...
Read moreThis is my second time visiting Mattebella and it is still wonderful. I was worried, as a friend who lives nearby says she received bad service every time she went. However, I was pleased to see the service was great. It does seem like it may be slow if they are very busy, but we visited on Fourth of July weekend and it was fine. The wine mixed drinks are FANTASTIC and great if you want something lighter or are just tired of straight wine. The woman who served us said they squeeze all the juice for the mixed drink themselves! While we did not get to order a cheese board, they too look amazing. Some parties near us got them and they look big, so possible worth the price. The grounds are gorgeous and offer many different sections to sit at depending on what you like. We sat on some couches in a shady area in the back. It was very peaceful. We will definitely be coming back for a third visit next time we are...
