Gorgeous jaunt down to see the falls. Nice open area to view the falls and take pictures as well as a wooden viewing platform across from the falls and a wooden bridge above the first falls for your viewing pleasure. Great photo ops.
Below the falls is the perfect area to go enjoy the water on a warm day. The water was deep enough to entertain my preteen and shallow enough for my 3 yr old to enjoy. Water is cold, and you have to climb down a small rock incline to access the water. You can also follow the trail along the river with other access points.
For the layout, there is a sloping graveled switch back trail from the parking down to the wooden deck, a dirt and rock path that splits to the wooden bridge or the rock/dirt stairway back up to the playground forming a looped trail. The playground and restroom are located near the parking area and both trailheads, There is a campground at the beginning of the park entrance and an envelope dropbox and envelopes with car hangers for the entrance fee. It costs $5 to visit, and you will need it in cash for the envelope drop box. The same hang tag can be used all that same day at any of the Marinette county parks and waterfalls....
Read moreWe went here during summer while on vacation. Beautiful short walk down to the river. Along the rapids the path can get a little rough, but there is also a main path to a platform that is safer for people who have difficulty manuvering. Every aspect of the hike was great. The rapids and giant pines along it were all gorgeous. After our short jaunt about, we went to the center of the rapids where there is a sandy swimming hole. In the water there is a large shallow part, and near the waterfall it goes really deep, probably more than 10 feet. The water is very cold, almost like Michigan. But all in all it was very fun to swim. Especially since there were no rocks whatsoever. I would very much recommend going here, and I definitely am next year when I come up for...
Read moreThe waterfalls are amazing!! There is lots of parking. There is a nice playground for the little ones. The trails are very difficult to navigate in the lower falls especially climbing up to the upper falls. The rocks are extremely slippery when wet. Worth the views. The foot bridge over the river makes for a perfect photo op. The upper falls have several great photo spots as well. So many naturally beautiful spots I was surprised there was almost noone there during the week the couple of times we went. It is always packed on the...
