Beautiful spot for a quick stop. That’s all it will take as there is limited access. The lighthouse is an active Coast Guard Station. They have a small visitors lot at entrance and you can enter on foot through main road. Road is marked public/private so you know where to walk 🤣 The other side of the road is a private residence and beach. You cannot walk down to the beach or on to their lawn. Currently extremely dangerous conditions and no way to get closer to red lighthouse. Still a worth the quick stop.

This light is on the Coast Guard Sturgeon Bay Canal Station. There is a breakwall there that the public can walk out on for a great view of the light and also the light at the end of the breakwall. Parking is just outside the Coast Guard Station and is limited. Being retired from the Coast Guard, I was fortunate enough to get a tour of the Coast Guard Station...

Beautiful place! No bathrooms. No food. Take care of that before you go there. :) Stay on the designated path. It is an active Coast Guard location. The other side is a private residence. Caution .... if it is super windy.... do not go out on the walkway. You get 2 lighthouses in 1 location. The Red one on the water and the white one on land

Looking for a beautiful Lighthouse with the clean, clear and picturesque waters of Lake Michigan? This is a perfect location! a long causeway will lead you out to the lighthouse. The lighthouse showcases a infrared light come sundown. The exterior is a unique and vibrant red color unlike most lighthouses which are painted white.

If you want to tour the lighthouse, you can book a tour which will gain you access to the upper walk way and over to the separated lighthouse pier.

Parking is available in the "visitor parking" section before going beyond the fence line. This lighthouse is next to an active Coast Guard Station, which has restricted access. There is a designated walk way for civilians to access the North Pier/ Lighthouse.

After Sundown- The view looks out into Class 2 light pollution skies (as good as it gets in Wisconsin). I recommend bringing a good camera to get some starlight shots! If not, you can still go to get astounding views...

Fun place to check out, with caveats. The main/biggest lighthouse isn't really accessible since it's on the coast guard base (which is off limits to the public), but there's a clearly marked path you can follow out to the breakwater on the north side of the channel, and you can walk out on it to another lighthouse. However, if there's wind, expect Lake Michigan to possibly be rough, and waves could be breaking in the breakwater. This could mean getting a little wet (best case) to getting knocked into the water (worst case). My hunch is they close it down before it gets that bad, but use your judgement. It doesn't necessarily look that bad from the land, but gets worse the father our you go. I’d also recommend stopping at a nearby park along the canal for some nice...
