My wife and I visited on a Saturday night. I was concerned because it was cold out that the cats would not be out in the yard. I was wrong. The owners have planned for this. And, I don’t think the cats care.
It’s a wonderful place and provides an experience that most of us can only imagine.
First, do not try to get in early. They say you can’t open your bungalow door until 1PM. Don’t try it early. They mean 1PM, not 12:58 or 12:59. Once we were informed of this we waited until 1:01 on our cell phones. Lo and Behold, the door unlocked.
Each bungalow is separate from the rest with about an 8 foot maintenance access gap between them. This protects your privacy. Each is about 40ft long including the Bathroom. The great room is designed like an efficiency with Bed. Living, Dining and Kitchenette all in one. Everything was very comfortable.
But the real reason for staying is the Cats. They parade and play just outside your windows. Three windows, about 6ft wide and almost floor to ceiling. And remember, they can see you too and check you out. There were times I wondered what Raja was thinking.
When we opened the door the first time, Raja, the white female, was lying just outside the window with her chin on the sill as if saying, “Welcome, what took you so long.” Then for the rest of the afternoon, they play in the snow, or paraded around or, after Kane the male came out, chased each other around. Then, about 3:30, they disappeared and we thought the show was done. It was just getting started. About 15 minutes after sunset, back they came and the antics continued. More rolling snowballs around and hiding behind logs and chasing each other. Then they went in about 8:30 and were in for the night.
We got up about 7AM and opened the curtains. As if waiting, Raja came by and looked in at us as if saying good morning. They were out until we checked out about 9:30 but seemed more reserved. Then just as we were leaving the room, Raja came back to give us one last look.
I don’t have the words to express just how impressive this was. To say wonderful or marvelous or amazing somehow seems to understate the experience. It’s one that will last forever.
Were there any complaints. Not major ones. There were a couple small things that annoyed my wife and I but these may have been personal quirks and other visitors would not notice or care. And they are not enough to stop us from planning to go back next fall to sleep with the Lions.
One final thing. Right now, there is major construction. A huge new sign is being built so the old sign is gone and a beautiful Lodge? Or something is partially finished. There is equipment parked around it. There was no activity when we were there so other than pulling into the wrong driveway, it was...
Read moreMy family and I stayed at the The Haven of the wild resort in Chittenango,ny. 12/31/24 .This was a unique and beautiful experience for my kids, and my family really enjoyed the accommodations. They were clean and well appointed the overall visual of being able to see these beautiful beast just outside your window was so exciting and thrilling. It takes vacation to a whole new level and get you so close to the Safari type action first off kane & Raja. Are the two tigers that were part of our viewing big cat bungalow this made The stay with the big windows exciting and just overall awesome. I also appreciate the hard work of the staff especially this young lady named Jada. Literally in one day saw her helping us check in helping us get the TV going and working watched her drive the train around the park and then see her go and clean the enclosure and our windows to make sure we always had a good view. She was everywhere this weekend so happy to have met her appreciate her work and her help. The big cat bungalows are truly a unique experience filled with beautiful animals and hard-working people. The rooms are beautiful yet a little small but well kept and with some good accessories. Now my only drawbacks are the property is still being developed so there was a lot of construction and construction material all around the property and it was heavy dirt roads and gravel made things a little messy getting in and out of the property. I also wish they had a viewing Bayview window attached to each room. It would definitely make the experience more interactive if you had a window that projected out a little bit so you can actually sit out and have the tigers & lions walk around you while you’re sitting there but overall it was a great experience. We were able to get the bundle. Thanks once again to Jada And we were able to get the wild Safari zoo down the road as part of our package that also was fun and exciting to see the different animals even got to take a picture with a kangaroo. I can’t wait till this place is finished expanding there are other things that are offered. This was during the New Year’s eve of 2024 so some things were limited. I would definitely highly recommend this place. Keep in mind. It’s in a small town. Chittenango, ny so there’s not a ton to do in the town but you’re about 15-20 minutes from Syracuse, New York. So you can definitely find some places to eat and hang out over there, but if you just wanna have a true wild life experience in a unique and interesting way. This is the way to do it. Look forward to going back and staying on the side...
Read moreCame to see the Tyler Farr concert and this is such a unique and family friendly concert venue! Our kids had a great time, the atmosphere was awesome, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. This my kids' first concert and they loved it. They LOVED feeding the giraffes and watching the animals while waiting between acts. Plus, there is plenty of room for them to move around and not get antsy in their seats. My husband and I enjoyed the clean environment and smaller venue.
Logistics is the only reason for the 4 stars and I am very willing to update if things improve as the venue finishes getting it's footing. However, the line for food is MASSIVE. Only 2 people taking orders and several people running, but the system doesn't warrant for getting people through the line quickly or easily. Also, the cost is SUPER overpriced for what you're getting. I ordered 2 popcorns that cost $5 each. I was expecting at least a movie theater size bag for that price, but received a tiny circus peanut size bag (the kind you'd pay 50¢ for at a school carnival). I let it go because the tickets to the concert were so inexpensive, but not conducive to families. Also, a concert with 2 opening acts needs to start sooner and have less time between setups. Tyler Farr didn't even start until 930 and that is who we came to see. We had to leave early because it was just too cold. Please consider starting the opening acts at 6, instead of 7. An hour earlier and we would have been golden. It was just too much waiting around.
I will say none of this is a deal breaker. We will go back and see more concerts, but will plan a little bit more for snacks and time. Overall, seeing a concert here, especially if you have kids is HIGHLY...
