We headed over to Anthony Road Winery on 7/30 and were greeted and seated quickly for a tasting. There are a number of tasting flights to choose from, depending on your palate. I did two of the flights and my husband did one and then ordered a full glass. The space itself is lovely and very modern. The back of the winery looks out over the vineyard and beyond that, the lake, which makes for a beautiful view. The tasting is well done and reminded us of some of the tastings we did in Italy, where a mat is placed in front of you and the glasses placed on the mat above a description of each of the wines you are trying. The flights are delivered with some crackers for clearing the palate in between and our server was attentive and informative, describing each wine carefully and with detail. We enjoyed chatting with her about her passion for wine and the region. The wines were quite good and we enjoyed many of them - particularly the dry riesling, the vignoles, and the pinot gris, as well as the unoaked chardonnay and the rose. After your tasting flight, you can take a seat outside with a glass and order some charcuterie. On the day we were there, a food truck was on the premises (My Eva) serving Mexican food. We had a DELICIOUS chicken quesadilla that we took to go for the road. A little greasy, but so well seasoned, cheesy and delicious. Yum! Overall, a great experience at Anthony Road - would definitely recommend if you're...
Read moreThis was the second of four wineries we visited. It was listed as tending toward more organic/natural practices. It does have an adorable, well-labeled garden out back with many food and pollinator plants and a charming grape arbor, but we were unable to discover any details of their growing practices because the server, though she said she had worked there for many years, did not know.
We called ahead for a reservation and they had space for us immediately. The tasting room was gorgeous: a large, high-ceilinged space open to the outside. There were a few other occupied tables but they were far enough away and the space was open enough to the outside that we were comfortable in these times of COVID. They had a number of interesting flights as well. I chose one that showcased two grapes in different styles (Riesling and Gewurztraminer with and without skin contact and one barrel aged). Unfortunately the wines were undistinguished. One tasted strongly unpleasant to me. This was the only of the three natural wineries where we did not buy any bottles to take home.
Still, there was a large selection and we tried only a few, so perhaps other of their wines are better. The experience itself was very pleasant, and I loved the garden, so I would consider giving them another chance, researching the wines beforehand to know...
Read morePerfect in every way! Natalee was such a pleasure to work with. I organized a group getaway for 20 friends. I had my heart set on a wine dinner. After calling multiple wineries that could not accommodate our group I reached out to Natalee at Anthony Road and she was happy to entertain my request. I read such positive reviews but had no idea that we were in for such a spectacular treat. The entire staff went above and beyond to ensure that we enjoyed our experience. The winery is just beautiful. We arrived at sunset and were able to enjoy the gardens. The artwork and decor are exquisite. The table setting was right out of a magazine. The food and the wine were beyond amazing and perfectly paired. The chef was kind enough to come out and answer questions about how he prepared our meal and tell us about the local ingredients that he used. I just can’t say enough about Anthony Road Wine Company. Thank you Natalee and staff for a...
