OUTSTANDING.
I was super excited to find this little pop up takeout gem along Seneca lake.
The location is off the main road a bit, but it's quiet, beautiful, and peaceful. They were not busy when we arrived around 1 pm. Unfortunately all the Bao was sold out, but the dumplings were fantastic. There was 3 of us so we got the family size meal. Came with a salad that consisted of arugula and other greens and a citrus Asian style dressing that was refreshing and delicious, white rice which was made perfectly and of course the dumplings. We got chicken and they were soft and chewy with a nice crisp to the dough from frying, juicy and full of flavor on the inside. The sauces we got for dipping were spicy and non-spicy and they both were light and didn't over power the other flavors in the dumpling. While writing this, I am drooling.
They were friendly and there was a place to sit outside at picnic tables and the over all experience was exceptional....
Read moreGo get these delicious Chinese dumplings and bao (meat / vegetable filled buns)! Imelda (wife of Kemmeter vintner) and Marta make these with seasonal variations using Imelda’s recipe from Indonesia. Her parents called her San San when she was a child and that’s why this place is San’s Dumplings. She told me she is focused on quality and not profit. And her husband has the same attitude about the wine. It shows! These dumplings are great. She makes vegan ones too. Schedule a wine tasting at Kemmeter a week or so in advance then get some dumplings for lunch. Or just buy a bottle of the “single note” Reisling from the cooler when you get your order. (We took our wine and dumplings to The Spotted Duck to eat.) You’ll be in on the best secret food spot in the Finger Lakes! There’s nothing else like it...
Read moreSans Dumpling in the Penn Yan area is a spot I'd definitely recommend. The location is stunning—a beautiful house in the middle of a vineyard with breathtaking views of Keuka Lake. The kitchen was pristine and smelled great.
I tried a mix of dumplings; the pork ones were great, but the chicken and tofu were only so-so. The curry baos weren't for me, though I'd suggest a Japanese curry filling to the chef. While the prices were a little steep, the amazing location made it feel worth it.
Overall, Sans Dumpling is the top spot for dumplings in the Penn Yan area. While a fanatic might prefer the variety and value of a larger city, I would happily return for the beautiful...
