I wish I was writing a good review, but unfortunately I am not! The two stars is only because the wine sells itself. From the start of the tasting, the older woman was trying to tell us what we should taste and that we should wait to do reds in the fall. I’m sorry but I don’t like being told what to try. Then when we didn’t like the one she recommended she proceeded to question us. I don’t have to tell you why I don’t like something. Also, I am and have been in the industry for about 6 years now, and I am a loyal customer to this winery. Prior to this new tasting room and new manager, I had been given industry discounts. I work at a brewery that sells local fingerlakes wines, and I recommend a lot of customers to this place. Mind you, the brewery I work for gives wineries industry discount, and they are the ONLY winery in the fingerlakes that does not give industry to breweries. Way to support the industry. I’m not sure what changed, but I wasn’t told until the very end of my tasting that I am not considered “industry.” Then the older woman proceeded to continue to push the wine club on us which we said no three times. She said even better reason to join now that you don’t get industry. I’m sorry, but I was actually very turned off at that point. Please do not push people to do something they don’t want to do. She cared more about selling the club than our experience, and I was very put off. I can buy your wines at the liquor store for a lot cheaper. May not be returning after that experience and will not be recommending this winery to customers. I will also let the owners of the brewery I work for not to carry Red Tail Ridge wine because you don’t support the...
Read moreRed Tail Ridge crafts some of the finest red wines in the region. Nancy has opted to cultivate some unique red varietals (e.g. Dornfelder, LaGrein, Teroldego) you're unlikely to find anywhere else in the FLX -- or the nation -- as well as traditional cool climate reds such as Pinot, Cab Franc and Blaufrankisch. Our very first tasting several years ago inspired us to join their wine club, allowing us to enjoy these great wines between our visits to the FLX. It's been fun to watch the winery develop, from the bare bones tasting "shack" (now their dog friendly tasting room) to their current, gorgeous hospitality space. We've always been impressed by the knowledge the staff brings to their roles, highlighted by their natural friendliness and professionalism. Definitely find time to pay them a visit and enjoy some excellent wines you aren't going to find anywhere else. And don't get me wrong - it's not all about the reds. Their Riesling is also first class and Nancy operates one of the broadest and most innovative sparkling wine programs in the region, if...
Read moreI have been wine tasting in this area for years the average cost of tastings have gone up to about 10-12$. Randomly stopped at this winery and tasting are 15$ so I looked at the menu to see if it was worth it to me, another worker came over I told him I only really wanted to try the Pinot rose and I see they have a 4$ tasting he said they had that outside and I said oh so I can't order that in here he told me I could and could pick 4 wines... Great! I thought this would be like it used to be when wine tasting just a small sample as I said I really only wanted to try the one. He set them down and said I need to ring you out first over here... My total for 4 small pour as was more than the tasting!! 18$! He said he explained this to me, clearly I didn't understand I asked my partner if that was the impression he got and he didn't understand either.. anyway I left didn't drink or pay wouldn't bother here again...
Plus there was a huge amount of construction tiny tasting room with no view... Maybe it'll be better when they...
