My husband and I have been here two weekends in a row and overall really enjoyed it. We had our first ever snowboard lesson, which was great, and returned the following Sunday to practice on our own. Snow Ridge is a easy, straight drive from Ft Drum, and we liked how expansive and uncrowded it was so we could do our own thing. We mostly spent our time in the beginner's area and the magic carpet lift was very convenient. The Wax House lodge is big and lofty and well spaced out for COVID so I never felt uncomfortable. The rental shop staff were the best -- all really helpful and nice at every interaction, giving us newbies some tips along the way.
Unfortunately, the only reason we can't give this a five-star review is because of the woman at the front desk. She was incredibly rude and acted like she hated being there. Not exactly how you want to be greeted for your very first interaction upon arriving. On our first visit, she didn't give us any direction about where we would need to go for our lessons or what to do to get the rentals as part of our beginners lesson package. When asked, she replied in such a way that made it seem like it was obvious even though we said we'd never been before. We thought maybe she was just having a bad day, and sure not everyone is going to be bubbly, so we shrugged it off since we enjoyed ourselves the rest of the time there.
On our second weekend visiting, it was the same woman working the front desk. We asked for 2 military lift tickets, 2 snowboard rental packages and 2 helmets. Before I even got to the words "rental packages," I was rudely cut off -- "do you have military IDs??" Then she fails to listen to the rest of the sentence where I stated we needed helmuts so we had to do another transaction in the rental shop. We really enjoy Snow Ridge and plan on returning, just don't understand why the check-in experience can't be a little...
Read moreThe hills were great! I was disappointed as I call a few days earlier regarding lessons and was told that I needed to arrive a 1/2 hour before lesson time. We got there and were advised that no lessons were available as there were only 2 ski instructors and one was doing private lessons all day and the other one had to leave for another job. Drove 1.5 hours with a child who had never skied before. It was disappointment that the one ski instructor they had there all day was only doing private lessons all day and they didn't have a time available for a group lesson. I'm sure the child would have had a better time with instruction from an instructor prior to trying it out. I think I was overcharged too. 2 $15.00 vouchers and two bunny bowl tickets with 2 rentals. I was charged $140.00. I was told when I called that there was a beginner package which included a group lesson, bunny bowl pass and rentals for...
Read moreCame here 2/8/2020 for a special day with my daughter. The skiing was good. A lift operator recommended the restaurant for lunch as opposed to cafeteria and said we would not be disappointed. Our experience was very disappointing. All I ordered was a grilled cheese sandwich and soup, my daughter the kids pasta. My grilled cheese wasn't grilled at all, it was as if the cheese was microwaved then placed on a grill for grill marks, no butter on the bread? When waiter asked how I was doing I showed him how this looked. My daughter didn't care for the pasta either. The kicker was the bill at the end, I was charged the $7.50 for the grilled cheese, then an extra $1.00 for cheese? Drove over an hour to come here, doubtful I will be doing this again. As compensation the soup was taken off the bill, not the grilled cheese. I've changed review, manager contacted me and made things right, much...
