I relatively like the hiking courses in the Ramapo area, and hiking here is also fun because there are intermittent streams and various courses. I walked Claudius Smith’s Den Short Loop clockwise for 5 miles in 2 hours and 30 minutes. You can occasionally see people hiking with dogs, but it is a relatively quiet course. One thing that's disappointing is that you can't park right in front of the trailhead, so you have to park near the train station and walk for about 10 minutes.
