Rude greeter. Got there hour before closing. Only a half dozen people there. Told us we could only sit inside and kinda sniffed at us. Walked away. Rudest nasty greeter, No wonder the place was practically empty. Fire this a-hole! Maybe people will come back. Edit follows:
(That was a quick and justified note off the cuff-- Clarifying-/ Friday, Knapp Advertised Music and Food and Wine for this evening. Our party of seven Responded to the aforementioned music, food and wine 5 to 8 pm. Got there w/o reservations. 6:45. In the Front portion, unhappy musicians were playing to only 3 tables. The harried and only waitress made no attempt to greet us. I seeked her out. She said we had to get our own food in the back restaurant... ok, Cole?! When we went to the restaurant, the rudest head waiter ever, didn't show for 5 minutes-- and when he did asked for "reservations" Huh? Cole?? You advertised music food and wine. I said to waiter, "your inside restaurant is empty and why can't we sit where we want outside -- only 3 tables occupied there. And still an hour left for service.." . he just turned away w/o offering menus to look at. We grabbed some and found it a boring menu of overpriced food in a empty cafeteria setting. Obviously, service seemed to hate us. We were dressed appropriately and he wasn't coiffed well either. Why the attitude, Cole?? - owner and responder!?
Turning away. We quickly decided to seek friendlier venues in Geneva. We found Microclimate on Linden Street --🥰. Wonderful wine and food and a 5 star rating. )
I've done multiple wine trails -- and steadily service at Knapp's has gone downhill over the decade or so. Last time wine wasn't noteworthy enough to buy a bottle ... we were hoping it got...
Read moreThese reviews do not make justice of how horrible the restaurant is. I thought it was good just by reading the reviews, my mistake. I don't recommend this place if you know what good food is like. From the odd rules to the food: worst experience ever. I was in a party of 5 this weekend there. All of our orders had issues. I ordered the salmon caesar salad. The salmon was definitely not a Norwegian salmon and it was cold and dry, as if it was badly microwaved. In addition, there was a piece of plastic on my plate, which they simply apologized for and did nothing. We also ordered the Southwest salad with Angus beef which was chewy and had large nerves on it. The chicken orders were dry and bland. The sandwich orders were soggy and badly made. We wanted to eat outside and there was no one in the restaurant except for another group. They didn't let us bring tables together, which were empty, but we could sit in the umbrella tables where the sun was hitting. Once we seated in these tables we wanted to angle the umbrella to avoid direct sunlight over our heads. We were yelled at by the waiter saying we couldn't touch the umbrellas because of the manager's rules. Another group came by after us and had similar issues. Whoever the manager is, needs to address client's concerns and be more flexible, or yet, have common sense. Whoever the chef is, needs to start making food from scratch instead of microwaving everything; check the plates before they leave your kitchen; toast your sandwich breads (this is sandwich 101); and remove oily tortilla chips from their recipes. It's a beautiful land with such potential! Unfortunately, the restaurant...
Read moreThe winery itself is fantastic, the staff are attentive, knowledgeable, and make the experience enjoyable. Unfortunately, the restaurant leaves a lot to be desired. Wait times for both food and service were long, and the quality of the dishes was inconsistent.
The aesthetics are an easy win, the layout and presentation are inviting, but the food simply doesn’t measure up. For instance, I was asked how I wanted my burger cooked, only for it to arrive completely different than requested. If the kitchen can’t deliver on that option, I’d rather they not ask. I’m usually pretty easygoing, but for the venue and the price point, I expected more.
The fries were another letdown: half undercooked and soggy, half overcooked with a dense, raw center. The drinks were good, but when the food quality is so uneven, the bill felt almost insulting. To make matters worse, we had to physically track down staff just to settle the check, waiting about 45 minutes with no service. That happened more than once, both to request the check and then again to have the card processed.
All of this was especially disappointing because it followed an excellent wine tasting experience. Even after a couple of cocktails and a bit of a wine buzz, the food and service issues were too glaring to overlook. From a quality standpoint, the restaurant simply didn’t deliver, and that’s what ultimately pushed me to leave...
