Schlathaus Park — Attraction in Town of Wappinger

Not really a park in the useful sense as there is no play equipment or ball field. It's a large grassy corner square housed with a statue and monument honoring war veterans. A large tree is used during holiday season as a Christmas tree. The other 2 December holidays are celebrated there too. An occasional art show, egg hunt, small fair or concert are held here. Sunbathing on a towel is not recommended because of the large quantities...

A lovely park with a war memorial which is not overly maudlin, tastefully proportioned and positioned. What is mystifying though is that most of the many people who come here mourning lost veterans are eager to make more of them through endless foreign...

Park looks like it needs TLC. Truck tires mar the grass and it makes it hard to walk your dog during the winter months. The stage looks like its from the early 70s. I would be embarrassed for out of town guests to see the condition...
