When we first encountered the AT from the road, we thought, "this is it?" Small little unimpressive cow path. But not too far in, the trail was obviously manicured, with trail markers and stone steps built where steep climbs existed. The forest and the views are gorgeous. In the photo are trail markers. The one on the tree means, "take a right at this fork." The one on the rock (lower left) means, "you're leaving the trail." I highly compliment those that maintain...

The A.T is one of the best scenic trails east coast has to offer and NY section of it is really good too. Unfortunately we went on a colder day so weren’t able to finish the hike to the Fitzgerald falls. But it’s a must go on a warmer day. Follow the white trail to get on the A.T. It totally depends on how much and how farther you can hike when it...

Located in Warwick NY, this stretch of Appalachian trail offers wide views of the Hudson Valley and Catskills in two locations (Eastern Pinnacles and Cats Rock). You can take the trail to Cats Rock for a loop or go towards the shelter for a longer loop. The viewpoints require some rock crawls/scrambles. You might also meet some Appalachian...

AT from Warwick NY. Beginner/intermediate hike. A few incline/decline that will get your heart rate up (a little). Overall nice trail, well marked. I started at the top of Mt Peter, hiked in 2.22 miles to the scenic view of Greenwood lake, then back out. Lovely day hike. Will do again and go to the state line.
