Wally provided a beautiful area to go camping. This place is great if your just looking for a place to kick your feet up in relative privacy after a long day in the Gunks. But beware rustic means very rustic. We were located in the middle of a horse field, with several large manure piles in view. The fire pit was 8 cinder blocks crudely formed together and the area was overrun with weeds. After 30 minutes of chopping weeds with my hunting knife, we were in business. Unfortunately, we camped while a wedding party was active up on the hill about 1/3 mile away, so we never got the peace and quiet we had hoped for. The mentioned bathrooms were porta pods set up for the wedding. We were told we cannot use them until the wedding party ended, roughly 1000 pm. The party died down around 1 am. The proposed shower was "in the barn, but it does not have a shower curtain"??? Note, the wedding party bathrooms were in clear view of the "shower" and the pods in high demand at that time of night. We were eventually allowed to use an outdoor shower located on the owners deck. The womenfolk were none too thrilled. Lastly, we were told some firewood would be brought down to the campsite but never was. Then came the matter of paying. Unless camping solo,...
Read moreAs a wedding photographer in the New Paltz/Hudson Valley area, I've photographed weddings at many charming rustic wedding venues, and, truthfully, Rustic Ridge View Farm takes the cake for a unique rustic venue with homestead vibes. :)
Rustic Ridge is one of my favorite places to photograph for many reasons - the ceremony space atop the hill with its view of the mountains, the lush green grove near the ceremony space for couple portraits, and the covered pavilion that lets in lots of natural light during the reception are a delight to photograph. In addition to that, the owner, Wally, is one of the kindest and most hands-on venue owners I have ever met. He truly loves hosting weddings on his property, and even goes so far as to open up his own home for the couple and wedding party to get ready in. Because of his kind presence, the venue truly feels like a home away from home for anyone choosing to get married there.
This venue is also very close to New Paltz, which is a great little town to explore for guests visiting from out of town, and also boasts several cute shops and delicious restaurants. If you want a rustic wedding that feels a little different than the typical barn venue, this...
Read moreI had my wedding at Rustic Ridge View Farm and I am so glad I did. Wally, the owner, is amazing to work with. Everything went so well, the venue is gorgeous, and we loved the freedom to go a bit later than other venues would have allowed. It's definitely a very chill (yet professional) spot to have a wedding and it's enormous. Tables are included and there are bathrooms onsite so that's already a big plus over other raw farm or barn wedding venues. We held ours late August. Heat was not an issue and there were no bugs at all. Wally provides a PA for the ceremony, a beautiful wooden arch that you can decorate or leave as is (it's pretty either way), benches & lots of fun touches all around like wooden signage etc. The lighting under the pavilion is amazing at night, there are bistro and fairy lights all around. Photos do not do it justice. I definitely recommend using a wedding planner or professional day of coordinator - its a lot to coordinate catering and other rentals. Our photos are so gorgeous, Wally pointed out the best photo spots. Our guests raved about the site, reception, and bonfire. We could not be happier...
