This place has so much potential to be an amazing little resort but the "non profit" group, running the ski area currently, (I say "non-profit" with quotes around that term because this very out-of-touch group almost shut down the whole hill this year because the percentages of the profits from lift tickets and tubing profits they collect on every ticket were now unacceptably not enough money for them to "volunteer/run their non-profit". They also have a war chest I have heard that is well over 6 figures dedicated to improvements to the ski area, which they refuse use to improve Winter Park. I hate to say how terribly this group operates the ski area, however, I felt compelled to just because of how dangerous the ski hill is for you and your kids. This "non for profit", (not the wonderful Kewaunee Park Dept. who does allllll the real work to make this whole snow park to be possible) is greedy, completely out of touch with how ski hills are mandated to operate, and they are too pompous or aloof to change or ask for help. I encourage parents to ask how many ski patrollers they have on the hill throughout the day before you drop your kids off . The answer is there are 0 ski patrollers at Winter Park. The lack of ski patrol/medical on hill is not only a huge violation of ski resort management regulations, but it opens Kewaunee to a very real possibility of being considered woefully negligent to the inherent risks of skiing and the lawsuits that will surely follow. Medically trained people are supposed to be there, full stop. I know people think the group that manages this ski area is doing a great job, but I would hate to hear how they could not rescue your kid from a potentially life-altering injury just because they don't have the very basic onsite medical staff every ski resort is required to have. Sorry for being a rational and concerned citizens, but maybe its times for the torch...
Read moreThis review is for the disc golf course only. It is set on a mountain bike trail which does not seem to be maintained anymore. Flimsy paper signs give some direction towards the course. On the course some signs are out of the ground and appear randomly placed in the woods. There is some very rough walking terrain, trees across the path and mostly non existent tee offs. The first few holes are very tight and technical which normally wouldn't be a problem if the off fairway areas weren't filled with burrs. Hole 3 has a ravine right off the fairway which could make for a miserable walk if your disc wanders off course. Lots of tight trees makes distance throws...
Read moreThe winter park had lots to offer. From inner tubing, skiing, and snowboarding. And, you don't have to own your own skiis or snowboards, as you can rent some. When I was here I was on the inner tube hills, and it was a load of fun. The only thing I had against the place was their safety guy. He was a grumpy old man who was the textbook example of "the fun police." He would come rushing down the hills after you if you did something against his rules. As example, he yelled at everybody to drag their feet as the hills were getting pretty fast, which they were, but this guy was going after every single person who wasn't. It was honestly pretty funny from a looking...
