The heart ♥️ of United States 🇺🇸 Winter Olympics ⛷🎿🚡Team! The east side of Whiteface Mountain has a ski ⛷ slope that has the steepest vertical drop (3,166 feet) east of the Rocky Mountains! The mountain has 88 trails covering over 22 miles. Standing 4,867 feet tall, it’s the fifth highest peak 🏔 in New York State. On a clear sunny ☀️ day, the skyscrapers of Montreal and mountains of Vermont are clearly visible from the summit. Only 13 miles from the mountain is the town of Lake Placid, where twice the Winter ❄️ Olympics have taken place (1932 & 1980). Hiking 🥾 the mountain is one of the best experience; however, the best part is that it is also accessible by car 🚙 or motorcycle 🏍 via the Veterans Memorial Highway. The cost is a little too expensive; it’s $20 for the first 2 people and thereafter $10 per person. One you are at the summit, you can view a castle 🏰 like structure, a restaurant and gift shop, and an elevator tunnel carved into the mountain to visit the peak for a 360 degree view. Make sure to visit on a sunny 🌞 day; otherwise you may be disappointed. Also, the weather on the peak (Alpine Zone) is much colder than the base. Make sure to dress...

As soon as we parked at the foot of the summit, we began to see the black flies started swarming around our car in thousands waiting for us to open the car door and ready to feast on us. It was impossible to get out of the car. We had to turn around, heading back down. Out of sheer desperation, we stopped halfway down at one of the pullout lookout points. My partner got out of the car, in a blink of eyes, every square inch of his body was covered by black flies. There was no way to swat them away. He had to quickly retreat back in the car, with him, came in 100's of black flies. We had to spend the next 15 minutes in the car trying to kill them black flies while many of them successfully got their feed on us. I am sure other times of the year it is beautiful and enjoyable up there. It was a terrible day for us, though; we paid $40 to get bitten by...
