Donner Lake — Attraction in Truckee

Beautiful lake on the cusp of the Sierra Nevada range. Great scenery, trails, fishing, boating, nature etc. However I couldn't find anywhere to buy a donner kebab. Nor a shawarma, shami, kofta, chapli, sheekh, gyro - not even a falafel and hummus wrap. My advice to 19th Century pioneers who had to resort to cannibalism after getting stranded over winter is this; Don't name your lakes after kebabs if you're not going to sell kebabs anywhere in the area. Very misleading and a huge let-down. I had to make do with a burger which was ok but if you go to Donner Lake, you expect donner meat on tap. Son's...

What a beautiful place. Our dog Greta loves the water and the peacefulness of this area. Anytime she sees the water she is ready to jump in.

We walked around the east side of the lake and stopped about a mile from the entrance. Greta kept pulling on her leash anytime we got near the shore. Our daughter’s dog Kodak also loves the lake. Kodak lives in Truckee and has been to the lake many times.

The walk we took was after a wonderful lunch for my daughter’s birthday and Father’s Day...

I only give it a 4 because it’s expensive to get in $8 a person I think me & my 5 kids was $40 I believe, but the docks are wonderful only $20 a group!!! Another thing while on the beach area there was a party and a worker asked me to move over I couldn’t be on the other side on the sign that said party I was standing in the water and litterly just took one step over and I was away from the sign lol like really one step! But other then that I will continue to go here for the docks...
