I used this park and ramp to launch my rowing scull. It was the"off-season" so was able to find parking easily and did not have to wait to back into the ramp. The other kayakers there were very friendly and offered to help. I also enjoyed a coffe and pastry at the picnic table. It was lovelybto not have to fight the crowds. I have heard that during the summer this park and access is chaos. I feel like there should be a 2hr limit for the parking here, so people can launch their boats, recreate and leave, not hang around all day.

I've been going to Donner Lake since I was a small child. It's a lot more crowded than it was then. Weekends are very crowded and now that there are so many people around, and houses built it can be a challenge to get a parking spot. It's a beautiful lake though and everyone should visit the nearby Donner Memorial Museum at least once to learn the history of the area and the Donner Party.

Great location. Small ramp for SUP/KAYAK, etc. Picnic tables, parking lot, and street parking. Public restroom that altho is not pretty, is very clean. Lots of shade. Floating dock you can swim to for laying in the sun. Very casual, simpler & easier than going to the State beach. Clean, ample trash bins, and great spots to fish. We took our 3 yo for a picnic and it was very easy!

Beautiful views the train runs along the ridge above and the views make awsome pictures, the sunrises and sunsets can be spectacular. The clear cold water is refreshing on hot days can be a little numbing on cooler days even with a wetsuit, good fishing certain times of year. There is a boat launch. Paddleboarding is a fun thing to do along with kayaking or canoes but the busy days theres too many motorized boats making wakes. Theres not alot of parking so when it gets busy people block roads and driveways where they shouldnt park. They should be mindful of the locals who take care of this place year round. Its very clean please keep it that way. There are bathrooms and trash receptacles all over so please if you visit too clean up and leave it like...

Beautiful spot with great parking, BUT The concrete approach to where the dock should be is completely submerged as of June 13 2024. The high water level of Donner Lake so far this season looks to be about 3 to 4 feet above the point where the floating dock would be attached. Soo...no dock so far this year. Still a nice spot to get down close to the lake on concrete path. Not really a good spot to cast a line yet, but a nice spot to get your feet wet and watch the kite surfers...
