Ballston Beach — Attraction in Truro

i had a terrifying dream about this beach when i was a little kid. i'm standing by the water, the waves hitting my feet, and then i'm in over my head. nothing happens but there's a feeling of depths and doom. also, a high school friend's dad died while strolling on this beach. they found his body lolling in the surf, the way you might find a deceased seabird, its eternal stillness delayed a few days by the waves. it was on this beach when i was about 6 years old, decades before they deposited portapoties in the parking lot in summer, and we just weren't leaving the beach. so i made the bold decision to walk out into the surf-- i think it was low tide-- and take a dump in the atlantic. if it was high tide, then i swam out a little and completed the task while treading water. i'm biased, but this is one of the most beautiful beaches on our...

I’d seen people say it feels like your own private beach and I agree. At 6 am there was absolutely no one around, just us and a couple of seals. The beach is super clean, the sand is really comfortable to walk on and the waves are gorgeous. It was so peaceful and quiet. I visited Ballston beach on September 4th 2013. It was a beautiful mostly sunny day with a light breeze. Its an easy walk from the parking to the beach and water. The beach itself had beautiful soft sand, really fine and sort of beige in color. The surf was light when I arrived early afternoon but picked up a bit towards the evening.
