My wife and I take care of our grandchildren and found Jurgens Park by accident. It is the perfect place to give young children a good workout and get plenty of exercise and fresh air in a safe environment. The park has an unusual climbing structure (kind of a geodesic dome) that the five-year old loves. There is a section for very young children (sand on the ground by all equipment) and a different section for the slightly older kids. Several mothers are present most of the times we go over and they all seem to be a friendly lot. We have chatted with several of them and they are always welcoming. There are also covered picnic tables with plenty of shade if you want to take along a snack or lunch. There is plenty of parking in the lot beside the facility and tennis courts adjoining it. The park is on a quiet residential street with few cars and two dead-end streets so there has never been any thru traffic rushing past. This is the ideal spot to spend an hour daily to give the kids the enjoyable exercise their little...
Read moreThis is one of my favorite parks to go to in the spring and summer. It has a near perfect atmosphere, and most of the day there's not a lot of people there. I've seen great birthday parties, pick up soccer games, basketball games, baseball games, tennis matches and all sorts of team sports played on the fields. Everyone there is nice and will most of the time let you participate as long as it's not an organised recreational sport. As a basketball player, the court is absolutely beautiful. It's well cleaned and the rims and backboards, though metal, are pretty good. It has a river dock access, and it's a beautiful place to see in the evening as the sun glistens off the Tualatin river. Overall if you're looking for a great picnic, a place to exercise, a place to practice photography/art this is the right place...
Read moreMy favorite park! It's huge! Lots of different activities for kids of all ages. I love taking my son there to play, and he loves it even more. Extremely dog friendly - all of the water fountains even have a dog fountain on them. Tennis court, basketball hoops, baseball feild, huge feild, secluded walking areas, beautiful plants and trees! They have a community garden and if you go at the right time of the year you can pick blueberries down the path to the river. It has a walk down to a floating dock on the tualatin river. Great place for fishing, kyaking, or crawdad catching! It's a big enough park that you could easily find a quiet spot if you wanted to just sit and relax, read, or do whatever you like. Everyone is very friendly! Would be a great place for kids to meet...
