I am a newer member of Calvary Chapel and have been attending the Wednesday night services at the East campus for about 8 weeks now. I live in Sonoita which is about an hour from the church. It is well worth the drive for me to hear such deep meaning of the scriptures. I have been listening to as many sermons on my Apple device as I can each day. All of the books of the bible are available to listen to with the Calvary Chapel App. Over the last few months or so I have been through about 20 books of the bible. I cant get enough of listening to Pastor Furrow's teachings. His insight and explanation of Gods word has given me more information then I thought I could ever learn. The depth of Gods word and the actual history he teaches is incredible. His description of what the society was like back thousands of years ago almost puts me there. It has given me a picture of what it would have been like if I had lived during those times. The teachings of the original meaning of the Greek words has also be very helpful in understanding the original intent of our Lords words. I consider myself a permanent member of this church for the remainder of my time on it. Praise the Lord for such a great organization that teaches every word from the scriptures. Chapter to chapter, Line by line, verse by verse, nothing...
Read moreI am saddened to write this post. I've been going to this church for 20 years. I grew up in this church and I wanted more than anything for my daughter to grow up in it too. I loved how accepting and nice they were but that has declined greatly over the years. I've appreciated learning from Pastor Robert but I don't feel much community there anymore. No one talks to me. Not even so much as a greeting at the door by the greeters. Today it's come to a breaking point though. When I called to schedule my baby's dedication I was told I wasn't allowed to even be apart of it because I'm not married. This is boggling to me because dedications are not baptisms or christenings they are for the PARENT to make promises to raise their child in God filled home. But I, the parent, am not allowed to be apart of it? If that is so then what is the dedication? If I'm not the one promising to raise her knowing the love of God...
Read moreI hate having to give this type of review, but I had to change mine after volunteering there DAILY for more than 7 years and attending nearly 10 years.
This church and it's leaxership literally locked it's doors and TOLD PEOPLE NOT TO COME, because of Covid. It's Lead Pastor abandoned his flock out of nothing but fear, willful ignorance and cowardice. This church is NOT representative of all Calvary Chapel Churches, it's just a bad example of one.
How can you possibly stand for Christ, when you're more afraid of getting monetarily fined and maybe catching the flu than tending your people?
As a Christian, I was so ashamed of them, I had no choice but to leave the place and YES I TRIED warning them what they were doing was wrong. (I worked with nuclear, biological and chem weapons my entire term of Military Service.)
I'd recommend Calvary Chapel Tucson in Midtown, totally different...
