I watch this jump live (maybe "Wide World of Sports"). I was 10 years old. It was disappointing when he didn't make it but my immature mind also thought it was funny (don't hate, I was 10). I never thought I would ever get to see this place. I didn't even know it existed until planning this trip around the U.S.

At first Google Maps tried taking us through a cow field to get to it, don't make that mistake. There is a dedicated dirt/gravel road just left of a subdivision (which wasn't there when the jump was attempted). Then there is a large dirt parking lot. Then you have to go around some barriers to get to the dirt ramp. The concrete foundations of the metal ramp is there but they are getting under washed so be careful if you go up to them. The metal ramp was taken down years ago. There is a paved walking/biking trail that goes in front of it and along the rim of the canyon. There is a plaque next to that walkway that tells of the jump attempt.

I am/was a big fan of Evel. I had a toy motorhome and motorcycle that you wound up and it sped off to do tricks. I watched every jump he made on TV.

This is more of a pilgrimage site than a real historical place. But if you are a fan of Evel, this place is still there and it's free (parking and entrance). It isn't fancy just like Evel. There is more to do in and around the canyon so it isn't just this you are...

What a blast ! I sure would like to know what happened to the Michigan Bickers , we were pepper sprayed then taken to jail . But in Twin Falls , the People and Police were as nice as could be , two thumbs up for Twin Falls Idaho ! I love that place , made front page alongside of Evel Knievel when some maniac in a jeep past our campsite , the Jeep had a Corvette Engine . flipped over backwards at the top of a huge steep hill , I was lucky , a guy from Mass. was taken into surgery , his spleen was removed . Two Others were knocked out when they got on the back of the jeep just as he pulled a wheelie . This was at a fire where people would douse the back wheels of there bikes in Gasoline , we left after a guy and his bike were doused in Gas , jumped and exploded , but everyone there was fearless and put him out , no damage , the bike looked a bit toast . One hell of a time , That Rocket almost hit us , we were on the cliff , screaming at Evel not to get out , he almost did ! Great Time . More should Post , a beer truck was stopped , all beer was passed out to all the maniacs camped by the Falls . how many are still alive ? Misfit Nation , Bickers wore Colors and there...

My recent visit to the Evel Knievel Jump Site was more about appreciating the sheer audacity of the stunt attempted here. The knowledge of what happened here is quite impressive.

The site serves as a testimony to the human spirit's audacity, an audacious attempt made by the legendary daredevil Evel Knievel. The idea that someone would try to jump this massive chasm on a motorcycle is both mind-boggling and awe-inspiring.

While it may not offer much for the average tourist in terms of attractions or features, for fans of Knievel or extreme sports enthusiasts, this site holds a certain significance. It stands as a reminder of the lengths some individuals will go to push the boundaries of possibilities and the physical limits of the human body.

The Evel Knievel Jump Site is not your typical tourist spot. It's more of a pilgrimage point for those who appreciate the daredevil's legacy and his infamous attempted jump. It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but it's definitely worth a stop for those intrigued...

UDPATE: You can park your car literally feet away from the ramp. People seem confused about how to get here. It's easy. The site is cool. Maybe you have to be of a certain age to feel it. I remember watching the jump on TV, breath held...and then both disappointed and concerned. So actually being on the ramp was super cool for me. My 17-year-old son who had never been part of the Evel Knievel experience just thought the ramp was a good viewpoint over the canyon--and an interesting story. "No way he'd have made that other rim from here, even with a rocket bike!" Led to interesting conversation while on the hill. As for getting there, we followed the printed postcard map from the tourist information center by the bridge. It said to take 3200 E which led us to a small parking lot right at the bottom of the ramp. So I guess there are multiple ways to get there, but that road right to the ramp was pretty easy. And there were about 3-4 cars there during our visit today.

I watched this event live on TV back in 1974. So it was great to be able to visit the actual launch site of the Snake River Canyon Jump attempt. It was a beautiful June day in 2023. There is just the dirt ramp and concrete footings that held the launch tower back in 1974. There is also a small informational marker telling folks what the site was and what went on there. We were able to drive the dirt road right up the the launch site. You can also access the site by walking or biking the Canyon Rim Trail. I took some pictures and enjoyed the time remembering that event way back when. The views from the trail are good. But the views from the top of the launch pad are really great. I'm glad that I walked up to take some pictures. I uploaded pictures from the site, as well as included pictures of the monuments just down the trail at the Twin Falls Visitors Center, near the steps to the Perrine Bridge. To me, it was definitely worth the time to visit.
