Filene Center at Wolf Trap — Attraction in Tysons

I visited on a Wednesday evening to watch a rock music concert and was reminded of how great a venue the Filene Center happens to be. The park remains very well maintained and staffed by mostly volunteers handling seating directions and general assistance to patrons. The concession stands seem well run with not too long lines for food. The souvenir stands likewise were well run with lines kept to only a few people and transactions handled expeditiously after the show. The venue itself remains quite clean, and crowds tend to behave themselves and be polite for the most part. The volunteers seem friendly and ready to help. I was directed to my seat rather quickly, even as one volunteer thought of a less intruding way for me to get to my seat than another. The acoustics in the center are more than appealing to watch any kind of show, and lawn seating can provide another satisfying experience to listen and see performers on big screens outside the center.

I would recommend wearing ear protection if sitting in the venue, as volumes can be as loud as indoor arenas for rock and other concerts. Jazz performances by contrast do not carry as loud a sound inside and can be heard nicely without ear protection. I also recommend patience with parking no matter what time you get to the venue and try to leave. One of the few drawbacks to this location happens to be how its popularity brings a great many cars for the limited on-site parking. Street parking up to ten minutes walk from the center can be a good alternative for later arrivals.

Overall I can think of few more delightful ways to take in the performing arts outside of the major city theaters than the Filene Center at Wolf Trap and plan to join the throngs who...

I'm still in "disbelief" and extremely "upset" that I was unable to attend the "Charlie Wilson/Babyface" Concert held yesterday evening, Friday, June 23, 2023! After driving for over an Hour from Washington, D.C. in "torrential" Rain downpours, I arrived for this Concert only to experience the WORST TRAFFIC DILEMMA ever in my Life! I'm estimating HUNDREDS of Patrons, including myself, that paid their hard-earned money were unable to find Parking anywhere "remotely" near this Facility! Some desperate Individuals resorted to Parking BLOCKS away and even on "Residential property" Lawns, which I really thought was absurd! Then, if you were fortunate enough to find, AFTER OVER AN HOUR of searching, a Parking space which was most likely ILLEGAL and in jeopardy of having your Car towed, you had to endure standing in a long Entrance Line for Patrons! After going through this NIGHTMARE OF AN EXPERIENCE, I decided to just give up of ever finding a LEGITIMATE Parking Space and left to proceed Home. This outrageous Incident just showed how Monetarily-GREEDY AND INSENSITIVE "Wolf Trap Filene Center" expressed themselves to their Concert Attendees! I feel that any Patron, which includes myself, that could not find suitable Parking, had to endure this FRUSTRATION and were not able to attend this Concert SHOULD BE GRANTED A REFUND. I will NEVER ATTEND another Concert at this "inconsiderate" Venue and am seriously thinking of Reporting this CRAZINESS to the News...

While this is a great park in an urban area, we always seem to have some problem or inconvenience everytime we go to a show. It poured at this show so I was glad that I have vowed never to sit on the grass. However this also meant that I had to buy a special cup for beer as they would not allow normal plastic cups. I guess it is okay as long as you are paying double the inflated price. After making me go through this they also sold us popcorn with no mention of the policy that you also can't take any food into the seating area. For a venue that prides itself on being friendly allowing patrons to bring food and drinks (which is a great policy) I cannot understand why they make it such a hassle for folks that paid for a ticket with a seat. They also need better parking guidance and assistance with leaving the park. The sound for this show was good but the lighting was not up to par and the audience kept getting hit with spotlights that were almost blinding. That may not have been the parks fault but it was distracting. We unfortunately had distracting patrons sitting in front of us and patrons that wanted to talk loud all through the show behind us.
