Coming back from the Mendocino coast, I knew I wanted to stop along Hwy 128 at a winery or two to check out the Anderson Valley wine region. We couldn’t have made a better choice than Lula! Dan and our host Kim were so warm and welcoming. I’ve been to a lot of wineries and it’s that friendly spirit that really makes wine tasting so enjoyable, and this is an experience I’ll remember as one of the best! We really enjoyed the wine itself, too, and the prices were very reasonable for the quality of wine. The property was also lovely and Kepler kept us entertained. Any wonder we joined the wine club on a whim! We made one additional winery stop before heading home, and while the wines were also tasty the experience didn’t even compare.

Lula Cellars was by far one of our favorite vineyards we visited. Ken was hosting the tasting room during our visit. He was friendly, knowledgeable about the wines, and offered us fun/interesting facts about the area. The tasting area was dog and baby friendly (we had our 6 month old son, and 4 year old border collie). Ken even gave our pup a few treats, making them good buds. The wines were all amazing- each one was better than the last, making it hard to decide which one to take home! We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and hope to visit again in the future.

We come here every time we come to Boonville (once a month). The Lula team is amazing, the wine even better. Hospitality: kind, welcoming, knowledgable and willing to help you learn or just drink for fun (never pretentious). Wine: delicious, well-made, variety of "drink now" and "shelf for a bit" wines. Tasting changes regularly so you get a "surprise and delight" now and then. We cannot wait to see what they come up with next! (Fingers crossed for live concerts!) We leave here filled with joy, wine, and plenty to talk about on the way home/hotel.

We really enjoyed our visit to Lula Cellars. Dan is a genial and fun host who made the experience a pleasure. This is California wine tasting as it should be IMHO; the tasting room is relaxing and welcoming and they impress you with the wine - not a multi-million dollar building. Admittedly, Dan did try to bribe us by flattering us for having the good taste to like whatever he poured, but I chalk that up to enthusiasm and good salesmanship. Plus, it didn't hurt that he gave us "I like Lula" badges and let me take the Morris for a spin.

We especially enjoyed the Peterson Pinot Noir. Surprise of the day? The excellent Gewürztraminer - we had second and third pours to be certain then took some home too so we can verify our assessment later.

Go here - buy wine and wear your "I like Lula" badge proudly; it's a fun place and the...

Well let me tell you the story about how I went swimming behind their winery. I was admiring the small fish in the pond adjacent to the tasting room, tripped, fell into the water and in doing so I lost my phone. The owners were absolutely phenomenal in everything they did to help me retrieve the phone from the pond. They even found a giant rake to try to brush it towards the shore. They had the best service and really went above and beyond. Great local business to support. And honestly, the owners had so much personality and stories to tell and worked so well at getting all the patrons involved together in a conversation....
