My husband was recovering from a fractured leg, so it was nice to be able to park so close to the beach (we got there early to do that) and minimize walking. Not as busy as Maho, Cinnamon, and Trunk Bays, but comparable snorkling.
I saw sting ray, sea turtles, a sea worm, and lots of fish and colorful coral. I was able to easily swim to Little Maho Beach just around the rocks to the west. Rest room is port-a-john, serviceable, but certainly not swanky.
Nice ruins and path on the way there, that was also easy to explore as you enter if you wanted to skip the path (which we did due to my husband's injury).
We actually visited there twice during our 10 day stay on St. John. Although there is shade, we observed the bugs like shade too... this is true at all the beaches, so best to bring your own...
Read moreThis beach is a little further from the main areas. However, it was some great snorkeling. we saw a few Stingrays, Spotted Eagle Rays, a nurse shark and a lemon shark and a few parrot fish. You can easily see depths of 20 to 30 feet if you're venturing out that far. Parking is a little challenging but people leave often so you might have to circle the driveway a couple times. Read moreGreat beach to get away from some of the more crowded spots. Sheltered in the winter more, from the wind, than the North facing beaches. There are no food trucks or stands, so pack a cooler. You can drop off your stuff very close to the beach and then go find parking. It also made it nice for someone in our party who had a bum ankle.
