Read moreQuite possibly the most gorgeous beach in St. John. The beach is located down a rigorous ocean front road that is not for the faint of heart. The road winds and twists through the hillsides and has some pretty sketch hair pin turns that could have your vehicle slipping backwards if not properly approached. If it's raining when you're attesting this drive, you might want to settle for some of the more accessible beaches like Trunk Bay.
If you do make it out to Maho Bay, you will want to make sure you can park. That said, I recommend going early as the parking becomes increasingly scarce as the day rolls on. I would also recommend that you pack a lunch and your favorite adult beverages as this are no restaurant options close by save for a food truck. If you do choose to eat at the food truck, bring plenty of cash because the drinks are quite expensive and you should be prepared for shelling out 11 USD for a hotdog and chips.
All said, this beach is amazing and one of the hotspot destinations for swimming with sting rays and sea turtles. The water is crystal clear and there is no shortage of sea life to behold. I'm also not sure about the water temperature year round, but in early April, the waters can be somewhat chilly due to the based location and surrounding hills.
If your staying on St. Thomas, this beach is still very accessible via ferry. There is a ferry service that leaves out of Red Hook, USVI that will drop off at Cruz Bay, and from there the wild ride begins through the national park's...
Read moreThis is an absolutely gorgeous beach with a ton of amenities. There’s a restroom, bar, vendors, chair rentals, picnic areas, photo ops galore, and a restaurant when the generator works. When we visited we got there around 10 and they were working diligently to get it going. By 3pm it still wasn’t going and we went to seek food. But, bad days happen. Don’t be like us, take a back up snack bag. Well, we had one, but we ate them. About the beach and bay….they are both incredibly gorgeous. The water is clear and the mountains making the bay are lush and green as if it just rained on them all the time. It is a smaller beach and got crowded. We had one couple sit on the beach directly in front of us, another right beside us (hold hands distance) and another on the other side very close. It gets crowded. It seems that there’s a pretty good amount of parking but we had to park our Jeep touching a tree and almost touching another car. It’s tight. You may even see adorable deer peaking...
