It's always a beautiful scenic view going to and from the Island. When the water is calm and the winds are low, the crossing can be made quickly and smoothly. When the winds are high and the water gets choppy is when you're in for a fun ride, so you'd better hold on to your hat and be prepared for that inevitable and inordinate pitch and yaw of the boat as it cruises through the waves which will come crashing over bow and stern and onto the deck and the vehicles and sometimes yourself, if you choose to stand outside. If you suffer from motion sickness, good luck, and God-speed to you. The prices for the ferry ride have gradually increased over the years. We paid about 60 bucks for 2 adults in an SUV, which is noticeably more than we paid the previous year, which I suppose is to be expected given the current circumstance of our economy. The ferry crew can be hit or miss. Some have generally good attitudes and demeanors towards their customers and their jobs, and some are downright crotchety and rude to the point of malicious willful ignorance. So, bear that in mind when dealing with some of these lads and bring a thick skin in case you are on the receiving end of their brooding ill moods. We've been making this crossing to and from for well over 2 decades and hope to continue making it for 2 more decades to come. Thanks for getting us there and back again relatively safely.

The Washington Island Ferry Line is more than just a mode of transportation; it's the start of an adventure! From the moment you board, you're treated to stunning views of Lake Michigan and the surrounding islands. The ferries are well-maintained, clean, and provide a comfortable ride, making the journey as enjoyable as the destination. The staff are friendly, professional, and clearly dedicated to ensuring a smooth and safe experience for all passengers. They are knowledgeable about the area and happy to answer any questions, adding a personal touch to the trip. Whether you're traveling with a vehicle, bike, or on foot, the process is efficient and well-organized. What truly makes the Washington Island Ferry Line exceptional is the sense of anticipation and excitement it creates. As you approach Washington Island, the beauty of the landscape unfolds, promising a unique and memorable visit. It's an essential part of the island experience and well worth the five-star rating!

Gorgeous island with lots to do..Lavender fields, has a gift shop and can pick your handful of lavender Old school house, old churches, curvy roads, take the ferry to get here. Very small town atmosphere but booming with so much. Small hospital, EMS/fire & police. Lots of places to choose from.to eat or enjoy various drink options..Lots of great places to take pictures. Great for a solo trip, family vacation or to enjoy with friends. Hiking & walking areas. Check out the Ferry times when to leave the island which can also connect to Rovk island that is 15 minutes. The Ferry to Washington Island is a half hour. It cost us $60 round-trip (2) people and a truck.Didnt get a chance to visit Rick island because it was getting late and it was raining g and there is literally nothing in the island. Everything is walking and ther is no shelter so we passed it up gor next time
