Great fun place to visit! I recommend this as a fun trip to bring your girlfriend, wife, children, family, and friends! For guys, the concept of visiting a vast and huge field of millions of flowers does seem boring. But when you are there it is pretty cool. I personally have never seen so many flowers before in 1 place and it is worth the trip to see it and for the food trucks and a few other things. They also have stuff for kids like a petting zoo, pony rides, hay rides, and other activities.
For the ladies, they will go bonkers.. So many tulips to pick from and they are just $1 each! That is a great price even though there is a small $15 per person entrance fee. That fee is also super reasonable and perfect pricing along with the free parking. The ladies will absolutely want to take a ton of videos, selfies and normal portrait photography. So bring a real SLR camera or mirrorless camera to get the most out of your pics and videos. Otherwise almost any smartphone will be fine on a nice sunny day. Tons of color from all the tulips and they have some obstacles setup to make your photos more interesting like bicycles, flower chair, swing, wall butterflies and other stuff.
Advice for people wanting to pick flowers:
Bring a light to carry flower basket because the free buckets they let you borrow will end up bending and breaking most of all of the flowers you pick before you even pay and get to your car. With a nice basket you can lay the flowers horizontally so they won't get damaged.
Pick the flowers after you are done eating and done taking pictures so that the flowers are as fresh as possible on your way home. There is a cashier at the entrance to the parking lot, so it makes it super easy to pay and go.
Only pick the flowers that have not bloomed yet so they will last longer and bloom at your home.
Bring a knapsack so you can carry water, snacks, hand sanitizer, etc. A knapsack is best because it rests nice on both shoulders, balancing the weight, holds more than a bag, and easier to put down in the dusty and dirty ground when needed.
Wear sunblock for sunny days and a very light jacket and a hat if you have fair skin.
If you are here for photography, then bring the best camera you have instead of just using a cellphone.
It's a huge open field, so expect and plan ahead for dry, hot and windy conditions for flower picking, photography, walking and eating.
Bring some paper towels since and hand sanitizer since not all the food trucks give napkins.
Take a photo of the parking lot sign where you parked so you can find your car easier since there are not many signs.
Buy the tickets online since they sell out quickly in person.
Bring your own food and drinks if you are concerned with some of the individual meals topping $20 or more for food truck food. Drinks here range start at $2 and go up depending on the truck.
The selection of food trucks is really good! I am positive that even a picky eater like me will find something they like to eat here and the food quality is good, prices are a mixed bag with some prices being ok and others being ridiculous ($19 for a very small personal pizza). I had a hamburger plain and fries which were very tasty. I think it was a bit on the pricier side around $14 without a drink.
The wind today was pretty strong and when it blew, the dust kicked up and got into everything, so just be aware of that.
To the owner of this farm: Would be nice to have the rows of flowers labeled like the parking lot to make it easier to find friends and family since the area is vast.
Would be nice to have a large, enclosed area for eating since the heavy wind picks up a lot of dust which makes eating outside not so fun.
Would be nice to have more wash stations near the food area instead of just 1.
Need more trash cans.
Your prices for entrance, and flowers and having free parking is perfect as-is. Please resist the temptation to raise any of these prices since most people right now are still struggling with the heavy cost of...
Read moreI love this farm but unfortunately i left completely disappointed. The staff is extremely friendly so that’s not the issue. The issue is the lack of direction for certain popular photo props. For example, my friend and I were excited for the ice cream shack this year. And when we did finally get our turn for our photo opportunity we had people in the background of our photo because people kept cutting ALL over. We had people INSIDE the ice cream shack in the background because people kept cutting and it was their only way of forcing a photo. Unfortunately, this made this completely unacceptable for me and my friend and our most anticipated photo opp became a disappointment due to the lack of orderly fashion (these were part of her graduation photos too). All around it was upsetting because we really wanted that ice cream shack photo and left without any photo of the ice cream shack decent enough to post. This is my third time trying to write a review. Not sure what happened to the first 3 time. Love the farm and staff. HOWEVER, popular photo prop items need attendants or at minimum a sign for a line. My friend and I constantly were cut in front of because there was no sense of a line and human decency was out of the question unfortunately. And these were the best photos out of the rest I deleted the others before writing this review because it upset me. This definitely left a sour taste in my mouth. Although, I do love the farm it wasn’t a fault of their own. Read moreMy review is based on the entire experience. The tulip farm itself is a straight 5 star for sure. The grounds are thoughtfully laid out and neatly kept. Staff is on hand to pick up after people who leave their trash lying around 🙄☹️. Additionally, great thought went into the planning in terms of not having large blue garbage cans to photobomb your beautiful photos. Plenty of picnic tables throughout the tulip farm and plenty of Porta potties. Additionally, the farm has placed multiple photo shoot opportunities throughout the area.
As you've probably read in other reviews, best to visit on a weekday if possible. This review and photos are from a Monday visit. We visited on a cloudy day which in our opinion is the best day for photos. The sky creates the perfect backdrop and allows for vibrancy in color. There were several food trucks on hand which we did not partake so I can't comment. There are souvenir shops and pony rides and farm animals. Again, we did not participate in that but there is certainly plenty to do for families with young children.
The tulips speak for themselves. The reason for the four star rating is because there are a few things that are rather clunky and perhaps the farm will work out in the future. Well there are two areas paying for the U-Pick tulips, the main entrance exit is where we checked out to pay for our tulips. We were a little surprised, since it is a monday, to find ourselves in a line of about 30 or so people. We got up to the counter where the stems are counted and placed in a plastic carrying bag. The surprise was twofold.1. the farm DOES NOT give you water for your freshly picked tulips (so make a note TO BRING YOUR OWN WATER IF YOU PLAN TO PICK TULIPS)... And 2. After waiting in line for them to count and bag the stems, we then had to go wait in line again for the actual cashier. This was really kind of clunky and time consuming. It seems like it could be handled better?
Lastly, I'd like to comment on the condition of the exit driveway. There were two areas that really need some attention. The signs directed us to the right which was very sunken and had several deep potholes. I have a low rise vehicle and this portion of the driveway was best suited for SUVs and not sedans. Also, the exit onto Emily's Town road was full of holes and divots.
Overall, this tulip farm experience is highly recommended. Especially if you want to take some gorgeous family photos you won't be...
