New York Camera & Video — Attraction in Upper Southampton Township

The people that run this shop are truly great. I came here for the first time this past April because I was desperately searching for a place that could appraise my torched video production equipment that had been in a fire. My insurance company was being very difficult to deal with amongst the trauma of having our home go up in flames, so as you might be able to imagine, I was extremely stressed out. This equipment is what puts food on the table, and couldn't believe the amount of hoops I had to jump through to get my coverage. Fortunately for me, Frank and Scott were very simpathetic and fastidiuous towards this whole situation and put much of my stress at ease. They told me that they dealt with this situation before and wrote my a very detailed report for the insurance company very quickly and affordabily. That was in April 2018.

I just stopped by the store last week again after getting word that they had the new Black Magic Pocket 4k camera. I called them on the phone and asked if they could reserve this relatively high demand item for me, and they did. Once I arrived at the store, Frank and Scott were there to greet me and we chatted about the fire we had endured and of course, camera gear. I honestly wasn't even expecting them to remember me.

This shop will always have a special place in my heart. While I've only been there a handful of times, it was enough to leave me with a very positive, long-lasting impression. It's an experience you can't get online and is seems to be harder to find in person. They truly care about their customers.

I’ve been a repeat customer here for over 2 years!

First, I came in looking for binoculars for a gift. An associate came right over to see if I needed help and less than 10 min later, I was educated, tested multiple options, and was out the door with my newly-purchased item! I didn’t realize they offer disposable camera development too. I’ll be back next time to develop photos.

Update a year later: I came back a few months later to develop my disposable cameras. It was so nice to get a digital and print option! I then came back another few months later to purchase a new lens for my Nikon. I talked to multiple associates and each one was incredibly patient and helpful. They were not pushy at all. They let me test and think about my preferences. They also showed me how a new camera body could make the lens even better. Almost an hour later I left the store with a lens and asked the owner to put the body on hold for me. He said sure, and I started driving home. Five minutes down the road, I turned around to buy the camera body. The owner was excited and offered a 30 day return policy should I change my mind. It’s been over 30 days and I haven’t thought once about returning!

Update another year later: I wanted to trade-in a lens and purchase a new lens better suited for my needs. I’m about a 45 min drive away and Frank was super helpful over the phone before I decided to make the drive. It was totally worth it! I tried out a few recommended lenses and got a fair trade-in value for my old lens.

Highly recommend anybody to go here for camera equipment and expert advice. The New York Camera & Video store will tell you precisely what you need. They're truly good people and care about the customer and the art of photography. I explained how I am on a budget, and they gave me multiple options for each item I needed. I was able to purchase: camera, lighting system, stands, and other parts I needed. But the best part was the excellent advice given by "John." I never filmed or did camera work before. Two weeks ago, I began researching to start my video project. I read, watched videos online, and couldn't figure it out. With "John's" expertise and knowledge, he explained everything to me concisely and simply. He was extremely patient in answering all of my questions. He even demonstrated how to set up lighting with his studio set up at the shop (one essential part in making videos)—also giving me tips for how I should shoot my videos. Hearing an expert tell me the right way is hard to find, and John did that for me (so thank you, John). This one trip is going to save me weeks of headaches. If you can travel to this shop, they have everything at the right price (and I mean EVERYTHING. The place is huge). Suppose you want to get your project off the ground quickly like me. I highly recommend heading to this shop for the equipment and the advice. It is a one-stop-shop for everything.
