I will start off by saying I gave this place one star because I couldn't give a 0. I came to this park because I heard it was beautiful with great scenic view and a great hike. And it was. However when I came into the park I had no idea there was a parking fee. That day I was given a citation for not paying on a Sunday visit. Immediately when I saw the citation on my car I began looking to first seen if any one else had a ticket or anyparking permits in their car windows and nothing. Then I flagged one of the park Rangers Who looks like a complete hillbilly. Meaning looked like he lived in the park lol. I asked him why I was given a citation. He said because I did not pay to get in. I said "sir I didn't know I had to pay to get in is there a kiosk or an office where I can go and pay now" He said yes you can go speak to someone in the front. When I got to the front there was no one to speak to only a kiosk to pay. Which is probably where I should have paid when I 1st entered the park but I had no idea. Not one other vehicle had something in their window. I wrote in to pina Adobe regional park about this matter asking them if they could wave the $38 non payment fee. Letting them know that I just missed the kiosk and that I was willing to pay I just didn't see it. They wrote me back sending me more pictures of the kiosk and telling me that I needed to pay the bottom line is you have to pay to get into pena Adobe regional park I believe it's $5 lol however that day I was charged $38 for not seeing the kiosk. I will never visit this park again. I feel like I was targeted because no one else had anything in their windows showing that they paid nor did they have tickets on their windows. This was unnecessary. I will never go again! How much...
Read moreI stumbled across this place purely on accident. I was on my way to Davis & the sun was coming up. I wanted to get off I-80 to get some sunrise photos & ended up here. There was a line of cars & ppl were literally sitting on their roofs (1 lady said it was to get away from her kids LOL!) so I asked if there was some type of event going on & nope. Ppl were just lined up to get into the park, waiting for it to open, on a Wed morning, no less. Well ok then. Meee too. My God, it was absolutely gorgeous! As if someone took a paint brush to the sky. And the cloud formations... HOLY COW!
Unfortunately, I had my 2 dogs w me & had no idea there was a dog area in there too. Much less, everything else that I've read that it has to offer. So the fellas had to stay in the car while I snapped away 😥🐶🐶. We only stopped for sunrise photos bc we had to be somewhere, but on our next pass thru there, u can be sure we're gonna stop & make a day of it. If not just take a trip on up there just for that park...
Read moreThere are many hidden less traveled trips deep within the many hillsides that are for any skill level or how hard you wish to sweat. Hume grove t either sunset or sunrise is a neat place to be surrounded by huge redwoods for a break, picnic or to pass through. There is a large pond for ducks and geese, at very range, r/c airport, disc golf course (25 holes but needs a lot of work), 4 cellular and radio towers at the peaks of the highest hills. October through March is the best time to visit, as the pro will,be covered in green, whereas the rest of the year is a nasty golden tanish brown. You do need to be alert and watchful for poison oak. Occasionally you might see a couple deer, coyote and the extremely rare mountain lion. Besides the ducks, geese and swans around the murky lagoon, wildlife is pretty Spartan and scarce In the park. When you cross the boy scout bridge when doin "loop the lagoon", stop to look down for turtles sunning themselves on the...
