This is a wonderful gem of a Bay Area garden located on Mare Island. If you have never visited, please do. It is a beautiful and idyllic, full of colorful flowers, vegetables and fruit trees. The perfect edible landscape, including special plants and trees like chayote, mulberry and mango. If you have an interest in gardening, they have classes and volunteering opportunities. The next event is the Bay Area Butterfly Festival on June 1 from 10am to 5pm. Not only have they helped our Afterschool program flourish by introducing children of all ages to this amazing garden, health, and wellness; they've also connected people to themselves, their bodies, their spiritual being, and other awesome people. Vallejo People's Garden truly gives you a chance to slow down and "smell the roses" and cares about building a more wholesome community through gardening. Read moreGreat community garden. Everyone there is helpful and knowledgeable. They have a 3 bin hot compost system, aquaponics, and they’re working on a vermicompost system. You can be sure to have all your questions answered since they grow about anything in their raised beds. Good to bring your kids out and unplug them from all that technology so they can relax, de-stress and learn about organic gardening.
