So much to do for kids and adults has nature trails and information to read about local plant life and the trails themselves it has basketball courts tennis courts. And it has a really nice place for kids to play they have plenty of room and the playground equipment is updated they have swings and they have bathrooms and water fountains available it really is a little gem in our community definitely worth a trip there with the family. I say trip but it's more like a good place just to or walk to if you wanted depending on where you live. It really is a really nice place and it's a very safe feeling place because there's always groups of parents and kids around and all parents do pay attention to all kids so it's nice to know that. Most people are friendly and chatty while their children are playing I've never ran into somebody that hasn't wanted to chat or just say hi and are friendly I always say hello myself just to be cordial there's never any issues at that Park that I'm aware of and people don't argue or anything there it's a nice middle class Park. I believe I said this already but I never seen anyone there that looks sketch I'm bringing my nieces and nephews there at least once a week to get extra exercise for them and even for myself when we walk the trails it's definitely a great when the weather is nice and cool. I would highly recommend this park if you want to have a nice spot to let your kids get some energy out and relax. I usually spend about an hour to an hour and 30 minutes there...
Read moreThis park is located on the southernmost end of the Venetian Waterway Park Trail (aka Venice Bike Trail) on the mainland side of Venice. The park includes a nature museum, picnic pavilions, playground area, tennis and basketball courts, restrooms, cold water drinking fountains, and nature trails.
The facility is a little rustic-looking (not necessarily a bad thing) and seems to be generally well maintained by the county. It's a nice place to park and walk around, and I have seen lots of birds, turtles, and the occasional bobcat.
If you pedal your bike, through the park (or walk) you come to the Venice bike trail which runs north toward Venice and connects to the Legacy Trail that begins at the historic Venice Train Depot. Sarasota County now uses the train depot as a bus terminal.
I know a local bike shop owner who says that he likes delivering rental bikes to this location. You can pedal all the way up the Venice trail, connect to the beginning of the Legacy Trail, then go all the way to Sarasota and back. (about 20 miles or so). I would have liked to have given the guy's website address, but I don't know if that is permissible. You can search for rental bikes in Venice Florida to...
Read moreNice park with large, mostly shaded playground (canopies installed over them). Swings, seesaw, slides, some unique climbing features for the older kids, but plenty for the littles too. The play area has wood chips on the ground, and is surrounded with sand/gravel. Several shelters with picnic tables and barbeques available to rent, no one was here when we came so we sat under one to take a break and have a snack. We parked by the nature center and they were unfortunately closed the weekday we went, there was a sign on the door that said they are open Thursday, Friday, Saturday, I would call before you visit. We ended up here as a spur of the moment thing, and didn't plan ahead for hours they'd be open. This was probably my son's favorite park we've visited in the...
