The VHAC is what you always dreamed of as a kid while playing in the neighborhood parks. This complex of extremely well outfitted fields have everything you could ask for from covered dugouts to lights for night games, high-tech lightning detection systems, restrooms, a covered pavilion and more. This was a fantastic design and implantation by VH Park District. The only problem with such great facilities is the desire to keep them so often overshadows letting them actually be used; during the rainy season lots of games get cancelled, not due to rain, but simply due to fields being wet and wanting to protect the fields. I understand it, we all love these fields. This place is one of those amenities that makes Vernon Hills such a great community. I can’t imagine what we did before...

Massive playfields with multiple soccer pitches, baseball fields and Vernon Hills' very own VORTAC antenna. VH is lucky to have so much open space with which to build something like this. Thank Richard Nixon for SALT, which effectively guaranteed the closure of the USAF Nike base that was previously here. Too large to wander around here on foot, fun to go exploring on a bike.
