Read moreI feel I was singled out because I am a Marine. I have two therapy dogs that weigh 5 lb each. Had them in a pack n play (playpen for babies) and was told I could not keep them in that because it was not a cage. But they were on a leash attendant at all times. As for the manager on duty Garrett which was very nice. And I understand the rules. So I complied. But further went to the campground and took these pictures. If you're going to enforce the rules... Enforce the rules for everyone! I then forward these pictures to Garrett. And I understand there's only one person can only do so much. A DNR representative did not come through after these pictures were forwarded. But I did not see a DNR guy until the next shift. The gentleman was super nice and I really enjoyed his company. Really put a damper on things. Wanted to relax and enjoy the scenery. We did comply to the demands of the DNR personnel. Continued camping. The attached photos are dogs unattended on a lead others had leads that were longer than 6 ft. and one did not even have a leash. I would recommend camping here. But if you're going to force the rules and force the rules for everyone and don't...
Read moreI have to say I was a little disappointed in Versailles State Park. We chose this campground because our kids love to swim. However, when we got there, we were told the pool was closed on Friday. No reason given. But, not to worry, it would be open on Saturday. Except, we got there in the afternoon, you know, when it's hot, and were told that they opened early and were then closing because ALL lifeguards were going to the local high school graduation. Would have been nice to know that ahead of time, or maybe had better scheduling of the lifeguards. We also had some terribly loud banjo music wafting from a nearby campsite and had to ask the ranger to have them be quiet at 11:00pm. They weren't stopping at quiet hours without being told. They were pretty drunk and stumbled into their camper finally. Not the Park's fault, but it was a little hard to track down help. Camp host was not around. Showers were pretty gross with lots of spiders. The road through the campground was more like a path. Not very easy to get your camper into your site. Poorly marked oneway drives did not help. Oh well, the kids...
