In the 7 years we have lived here and belonged to the club, they have never repaired the pool area where golfers and social club members love to cool down and congregate. Members have written letters and sent tons of pictures to the present management AND owner, yet he just doesn't seem to care at all. The colorless molded mushroom structure sits in the corner as a sun-bleached-white, dry, sad reminder of happier times when kids could play under it. We were all told its too expensive to fix, (or I guess even make it so its not an embarassing eye-sore), though we collectively pay hundreds of thousands to do just that- fix things. The tiles in the pool have FALLEN OFF and are replaced with black & green mold lined concrete- for YEARS. The ladders remain broken unsafe fixtures for years. We used to have an inclusive handicap lift for when someone cared to include them, but it is no longer. Many of the umbrellas and chairs are broken or metal and too hot to sit on. Some were hauled away and never replaced so now there are big gaps around the pool where no one even has a place to sit. The lining needs to be refinished. It always looks dirty. For the past two years, while paying members excitedly anticipated celebrating Memorial Day with family, friends and neighbors pool-side, both Mirror Lake & Chapel hills pools failed inspections, and had to open weeks late to everyones disappointment. In addition, Memorial Day used to be a time when the Club would have Food Trucks and Snow Cones, hamburgers and hotdogs being grilled and given as gifts of gratitude and celebration to members and their children...Havent seen that good ol' American scene in years now. In the meantime, a great deal of us pay a YEAR ROUND pool/ social membership, though we only use the pool the few months it's open in the summer - and this is what we are paying for. Members who pay for Golfer's memberships have families who want to enjoy the pools that are included in their membership - but this is what they are getting too. Now the Cobb & Douglas Public Health Department has shut it down. Big Sign on the gate yesterday saying it wasnt safe to swim in. Big surprise there... So disappointing. This is the worst kept pool I have EVER had a membership to. We all have had it. Please just care enough to Fix It! Many of us have made lovely friends here and want to continue to feel the sense of community we feel at the pools. We all deserve to get what we are paying for and its beyond the point of...
Read moreIt's been a long time since I've been talked down to a like a child, who would have thought that next time would come trying to play at this golf course.
I played 18 at Chapel Hills in Douglasville and they offered a prepaid option to play their "sister course" Mirror Lake at 20% off. I took them up on it and they booked me on a Saturday. I ended up getting stuck in Phoenix, AZ so I called the course to move the tee time. I spoke with a young lady who was very nice and accommodating who agreed to move to June 19th.
On June 18th I called to move again as there was wet weather in the forecast and spoke with Brian. Never in all my decades of playing golf at public courses was I talked down to by someone in the proshop like Brian did. He told me "he wouldn't accommodate the request due to it being a GolfNow reservation." I kindly informed him that I bought the round at Chapel Hills and that I wasn't understanding what that had to due with me. He said in a very condescending tone, that the course was private and that he wasnt going to move a tee time for someone who wasn't a member.
Needless to say, your rules are your rules, but don't allow non members to play there only to treat them like they don't deserve the same dignity you give to members. It makes no sense you would say that to someone when the club is clearly not doing well enough to afford to survive just on its member base alone. I didn't go to play the round I prepaid because Brian made it clear I was unwelcome there. I wouldn't play this course if it was the last golf...

I played the Lake course today and it’s in great shape. The bunkers are on magnificent - they’ve done a lot of work in them this year and it really shows. Since the greens are Bermuda they’ve held up very well over the season and were running fast and true. There were a few wet areas in some of the fairways - not sure if it’s sprinkler issues or just all the rain we’ve had.
They are using the upper driving range right now because a sinkhole formed on the lower one and it’s in the middle of repair. They don’t use the upper area much so it’s not in the greatest of shape - but not that big of a deal.
They always do a great job at Mirror Lake - you’ll enjoy...
