Elk Mound Hill Castle — Attraction in Village of Elk Mound

This place has an amazing view. But it is run down. Going up the extremely old stairs is nerve racking. There is absolutely no way for disabled persons to enjoy the view. The village has let this place rot. Vandalized by thugs and kids that have nothing else to do. But then again what do you expect with a village that the police force quit. And getting to it during the winter season is a heck of a walk. Also driving to it is really bad. The hill is very very steep and you really better have the best brakes or you going to wreck. Elderly and disabled should think twice...

Elk Mound Hill Castle is a really neat and free attraction that is worth checking out. The road going up to the castle is only open from May 1 - October 31, but there is a park right near the entrance that you can park at and make the short, but uphill trek to the castle. Still a fun place to visit, for a great view of some wide open spaces. A quick drive from Eau Claire. Last time I was here I visited Vino Cappuccino and had a great time. This time it was Sunday, so just a few selfies with my girl and some contemplative moments on the top floor.
