This place has really gone downhill. The main directional sign says go left to the lake. Arrive and it didn't look familiar. Asked a park worker who luckily was there who informed me you are supposed to go right and that they have known for YEARS the sign is wrong. Really? Drive the right way and the road to the lake had such big potholes I was concerned my tires would blow. Arrive at parking to find the pier is broken therefore my great idea to take a swim foiled. One of only 3 benches completely overrun by cattails. All this for the privilege of forking over a $7 admission fee. I related all of the above to the the County Executive and asked for a refund. They should temporarily suspend their payment system at this location and allow people to come in free until this disgraceful maintenance situation is addressed. If you live in Washington County particularly please contact the County Executive and your County Supervisor. A disconnect like this between fees that I'm sure when proposed were touted as a way to maintain the parks and the actual disintegration of the same is the perfect example of why so many are frustrated with...

Nice campsite. The cabin was well insulated. Beds were comfortable. I liked that the site provided a space heater and a box fan. There were tension rods in the windows with curtains 5/2025. Bathrooms/ showers were decent. Trails were great!

There were a few things that could use improvement/ worth noting the trail had plenty of signs, but the posted map didn’t match the electronic map available via QR code. The water fountain near the men’s bathroom wasn’t hooked up to anything/ didn’t work. 5/2025 The door leading to the women’s bathroom was challenging to open. The toilets are low-flow, so every day I went in there, there were remnants of toilet paper and urine chilling out. They have a handwritten note explaining… Last day we were there (a Sunday) none of the toilets in the women’s bathroom flushed.

New campers showed up ( a Saturday) and peed all over the port-a-john seat😑 which is not the campsite’s fault. Some people had their dogs off leash...

We were 100% satisfied with this wedding venue and our experience working with Krystal. The venue itself was beautiful with green trees and wild flowers. There was plenty of outdoor access (we rented tent for part of this space), a restored chapel onsite for ceremony, and an indoor venue hall for our reception. We even rented out the cabins and ranger house nearby to allow us to spend more time over the weekend with our wedding party and guests. We loved that we were able to rent out it out for the whole weekend--allows you to wait until the day after to clean-up if desired. We enjoyed the freedom of having the venue all to ourselves even if that meant we had to set-up and take-down on our own. Overall, we had SO many compliments on our venue and were very happy with choosing...

What a great place for a hike! Beautiful scenery, lots of hills and valleys, wildlife, you name it, it has it. Several different trails to chose from, from short to long. We went on Labor Day and expected it to be packed but it wasn't. Just us and our 2 dogs. This is not a 'free' hike. You will need to have a yearly pass, $30, or a one time payment of $5. Easy to do with the online payment. The trails were marked, but you had to look for the markers. Not always easy to see and we did get off trail a couple of times, but nothing serious, just needed to pay more attention. The dogs loved the walk as did we. One of our dogs was very happy there was lake access. She had to have a quick dip. Overall, I highly recommend giving this a try. And if you have before, go back again. I know we will.

I have a state park yearly pass, which doesnt seem to apply here, so i had to pay $5. I took a hike on the black marker trail. It definitely is more hilly than other trails, but fine with me. The lake looks nice, but didnt get to see much as part of the trails. It didnt seem like there was a beach, just a place to enter the water in a canoe. I had bug spray, but some sections of the trail i was getting attacked pretty bad so i rushed through it. I could also hear gun shots for most of the time probably a nearby range. There was an extremely nice part of the trail with really high trees and no bugs. That made it worth it. Not many people around was nice too.
